I have always wanted to pursue a career in the computer technology field. Achieving my Associates degree will definitely improve on some of the skills I already know and have gained for myself. I want to interact with people who are in this field of study.” I believe” this will perhaps surround me with people who may play an important role in my future success. Education is healthy for the brain, higher education will certainly sharpen my mind and give me the discipline I need. The reason I have chosen to further my
In the 1960s there was a struggle for medical facilities to recoup their revenue from patients, now many doctors are compensated by pay for performance. Computer systems have evolved from being centralized to then being shared. With the introduction of the World Wide Web in the 1990s, healthcare facilities have the ability to communicate globally. (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2009) Technology is, and will always be, forever changing and improving. The challenge health information systems face are finding a unified system to work in all healthcare aspects and all healthcare facilities nationwide (and possibly globally) and keeping up with technology.
The core staffing group will be able to handle the daily fluctuations in volume while maintaining continuity of care and keeping stress levels low. Jackie Larson, a Senior Vice President at Avantas, a provider of labor management technology, services and strategies for the healthcare industry states, “Core staff are those who hold an ongoing FTE (full-time-equivalency) commitment within a department.” (Larson, 2015). To develop a core staff there are many more components to consider than number of FTE’s. According to Webster’s Dictionary the definition of “core” is defined as, “the central part of a body, mass, or part”. (Merriam-Webster Medical/Core, 2015).
Carol Alborn HIM CORE Day 11 9/12/2011 Purpose and Function of the Health Record A health record is a virtual storage place that documents health care services from healthcare providers at various locations such as the DR.’s office, nursing homes and ambulatory service locations. It’s made up of data or facts from the patient and family members, and these healthcare services, which is analyzed for useful information. It is the HIM professional’s responsibility to take data from traditional practice forms and any Personal Health Record (PHR) or from any other sources, then enter data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Anything missing can alter the patients care. Its Primary purpose is to ensure quality patient care and managing the cost of that care.
According to White, K. R. (2014) “Nurse were the original servant leaders—at the patient’s beside and in communities- and now they are perfectly positioned to take their experience with leadership to a heightened level. In the new world order, nurses have moved from the background to the boardroom, and they have been put in the spotlight to lead transformation of quality healthcare.” (pg.27). White describes how far nursing leaders have come and play an important role on the healthcare team. In their personal experienced they understand what it takes to be a bedside nurse and a second opinion to the physicians. Nursing Leaders They spend their time in areas such as human resources, business planning, quality reporting, information management, and report writing.
Identifying Human Resource roles in health care Industry Nicole Hannah Instructor-Chinelle Brown HCS-341 Human Resources in health care Online course November 4, 2013 Human resources is a very important role in the health care industry. The human resource department performs many roles and must be very diverse. The Human resource department is a key entity in a health care company and must know all of the ins and outs of the daily task performed by all staff in order to properly staff the offices. Human Resources functional roles are not limited. Human Resources have many functions.
This change in philosophy and the advancement of technology by using EMR’s are two major changes I have encountered professionally in my 15 year career. The historic changes in healthcare will always affect healthcare professionals. The changes will affect everyone from a greeter in the Emergency Department, the registration team, nurses, and doctors. In my professional role I have been a witness to how health care has developed, implemented, and maintained the use of EMR to implementation of insurance verification after a physician has seen the patient. Some ways health care changes have affected my role is the focus on patient and family centered care.
There are several options for entry into the nursing profession. Both associates degree nurses (ADN) and bachelors of science degree nurses can take the NCLEX test and receive a registered nursing license (RN). “According to the Institute of Medicine there has been a recommendation for the amount of BSN prepared nurses to reach 80% by the year 2020” (Fisher, 2014, p. 37). The growing number of elderly and chronically ill patients in our nation will require higher level educated nurses that have skills and training to provide complicated treatments, use increasingly technical equipment, provide education to the patient and their families and to coordinate care among multiple health care disciplines and agencies (Institute of Medicine, 2010). BSN prepared nurses are also more likely to continue their education and receive maters or doctorate degrees.
FDU also provides students with the opportunity to achieve hands on experience through internship programs, which will enhance my developmental skills and prepare me professionally. College has always been a frontier in not only ensuring academically distinct and intellectual students, but also providing said students with a lot of social communities
Due to my perseverance, I made it and have the educational background that I have been trying to get for many years. * In addition to the reasons I stated above, a college education is important, because I can learn a lot of things that are beneficial to me later in life. I can learn and improve on my reading and writing skills. I have to write essays and reports which help me improve my writing techniques. I can improve my communication skills while in speech class and working on team projects.
