We ran the four hundred meter relay and the one hundred meter dash. Our training was hard, but we loved Mr. Slattery’s coaching so we tried to exceed his expectations. One day during track practice my coach noticed my head turning to look at the person I was running against. He calls me over toward him and says “what’s up with moving your head around
Olympic Dreams “If there is no struggle, there is no progress.” -Frederick Douglas “Jamie Foxx wins another gold medal.” My mom was an outstanding person and watching old videos of her, helps me understand who she was. My mom’s name is Jamie Foxx and she was in the Olympics for running track. On July 14, 1996 she won her first gold medal for getting first place in the 400 meter race. While she was resting after the race, she had heart failure and had to be rushed into the emergency room. Before she received her gold medal, she passed away.
Bolt is Bolt. He's a great runner. Being 6-5 adds to his success, you've just got to try to neutralize that." - Jenna Fryer -- Twitter http://twitter.com/jennafryer --- QUICKQUOTE: 'LEGEND' "I'm one step closer to being a legend." -- Usain Bolt on winning the 100 meters in 9.63 seconds, a new Olympic record.
“Michael Johnson of USA takes the gold for the 400m!” Coach said “It is time for the medal ceremony. Go up there and get your gold” I began to see a few tears in his eyes, but I did not say anything about it because I knew why he was crying. I just said. “Alright coach.” While walking up to stage to get my gold medals, I hear the crowd chanting “golden boy.” I always hear that ever since I started to run with my golden running shoes Nike made for me. Now that I am up here waiting to get my gold medals and hearing the crowd chant, my emotions become overwhelming.
This championship definetely did not end the problems in our world with racism or even for that time. It was a significant moment in which the underdogs had won, they came from the bottom and were on top now and had given their people some recognition and made them proud. Coach Don Haskins’s didn’t fix all racism issues, but he helped join black and white a little closer and help realize that we all want to be loved and have a sense of togetherness. Despite whatever adversity one faces and whatever time it is endured in, to always believe in yourself and rise above

Some of the names that were appearing on the top of the charts surprised me. Who knew that the president of the math club had such a strong throwing arm? Is that my lab partner from freshman year passing every other player in sprints? These girls were working harder than any sports team I had been apart of. Amazingly, girls who had little history with each other were gathering together during breaks, laughing and encouraging teammates.
His confidence and all-around great ability cause him to be a good leader by example. He puts in a ton of work and can make his team better by improving their work habits. However, Kobe has long been credited for being a little to isolated and held back to be a true leader. He allegedly was the main cause of the break up of the best duo in basketball, him and Shaq. Still, as a leader he makes his team work harder.
Finally making through conference placing 2nd , now able to attend states. Once states came along I felt as if my first race was taking place again. Nervous, scared, etc. thinking to myself "You got this," but the nervousness overriding once again through out the race hitting every hurdle I hurdled. Crossing the finishline noticing what a horrible race I just ran placing 4th out of 6.
I am grateful for this, however, since sports have taught me to be confident, obedient, and disciplined. But with sports, come injuries; with injuries, come doctor visits. I spent the majority of my athletic career at the local physical therapists’ offices. Every doctor I worked with helped me recover from numerous injuries and assisted me in returning to play stronger than before. Because of this, I am a strong believer in recovery and the techniques utilized by physical therapists.
