They will always take the precautionary side but they would not do anything that was not necessary. Studies showed that an AT was on scene at least seventy percent of the time while the team physician was seven percent (De Lench,1). This shows that athletic trainers are aware that they have a huge role on the field in high school sport events. Doctors have other jobs than just being a team physician and are frequently busy or are preoccupied by other priorities. Every single athletic trainer will make his or her best judgment for his or her athlete.
While working with Coach Bazemore and seeing what he does on daily basis, I decided that Athletic Training was the area I wanted to focus my studies on. Once I decided this, Coach Bazemore got me enrolled in his Introduction to Athletic Training class. I loved the class so much that I asked if I could join the Athletic Training club. I was then the student Athletic Trainer for the Varsity Boys Basketball team and took the Advanced Athletic Training class. These activities further encouraged my interest of being involved in the healthcare field.
I know that there is so much hard work I have to go through to get to that position though, but I’m already starting it. I have volunteered at the Staten Island University hospital for a year. I worked hard to get good grades into the Medical Program at school. Lucky for me those good grades paid off because I have been a certified medical assistant since I was 16. I am determined to obtain all of the experience and knowledge that it is required to get to where I want to be when I am older.
Athletic trainers perform a countless amount of duties such as providing first aid care, assessing and diagnosing, providing rehabilitation, applying protective gear such as bandages, tapes, wraps, and braces, and keep athlete records. (U.S. Department of Labor, 2012) Not only do they have the responsibility of preventing injuries, athletic trainers must also ensure that their athletes are physically ready and capable of playing after an injury. They organize and perform physical exams before every season to make sure the athletes are in their best condition and then consult with physicians and the coaches. In addition to all the tasks mentioned, they provide support and care to each athlete to demonstrate the devotion they have being their athletic trainer. (Gould, 2011) For the most part, athletic trainers are required to have at least a Bachelor’s degree in athletic training, be certified and licensed according to their state’s requirements.
I work to teach athletes about such injuries, while on and off the field of competition. Such injuries are to be treated in a time efficient manner in which the athlete is sent back to play, safely and as soon as possible. Communication is
Based on the patient history, these assessments and the results of any tests done, neurologists formulate diagnoses and recommend treatment options. Neurologists usually keep detailed notes about every patient visit for future reference. To keep up with the latest neurological discoveries, neurologists read scientific research either online or in print journals. They also attend conferences and conventions. Some neurologists contribute to research in their field as well publishing case studies or running clinical trials Reflection I chose Neurology because I’ve always wanted to be a Neurosurgeon since I was a little kid, It’s always been my dream job.
SPerformance Enhancing Drugs For a lot of people, sports are the center of life. They live for sports. They would probably play it all the time if they had a chance to. To play sports is a good hobby to have. It gives the much needed exercise that all humans need in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
My motivation for attending Columbia Southern University is self-motivated for me to achieve my own personal career and life goals. Attending this online university gives me flexibility to maintain my full time job and my own personal life. Even though, it gives me great flexibility I also believe it is teaching me to prioritize and structure my personal life and school life without being on campus. Also, by attending Columbia Southern University I hope it will help me purse the beginning of my four year degree plan in getting my bachelor’s degree in psychology. I plan to tend Columbia Southern for a year and then transfer to a school in my hometown of Houston, TX for the next years in my desire to be a child psychologist.
I would like to pursue a career as a health care administration that manages the medical staff and team. I will assign specific tasks and responsibilities for resident physicians, doctors, surgeons, nurses, nursing assistants, health care technicians, pharmacists and nutritionists. I will pursue that because I like to manage people, be a leader, and work in a team and love to help people so I think a career in the health care field as an administrator is the best to do. Employment of medical and health services managers is expected to grow by 22 percent from 2010 to 2020, faster than the average for all occupations. Earnings of medical and health services managers vary by type and size of the facility and by level of responsibility.
I liked to look at teachers when they were teaching in the class and day dreamed I would become a teacher one day too. In year 2001, I spent my time after PMR in hospital to take care of my grandmother. That was the first time I stayed in hospital and I saw how nurses and doctors were working. Those nurses impressed me a lot. Because of the event, I joined the Red Crescent society in school and learned some first aid skills.
