The one positive part of this experience was when I was pulled over by the police. Although it was incredibly terrifying to have a communication barrier with someone who obviously had an incredibly amount of power, he never once took the situation as a negative one, and did the best he could to communicate back, unfortunately I know that this situation is probably rare for many of the Deaf. This project has strongly impacted my life and view of the deaf community. I will never take for granted my hearing again. However now there is not a single part of me that doubts my love and passion for sign language.

Junot Diaz’s ‘The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao’, provoked this untold truth. His chosen dialect and seemingly personal account on the life of not just an immigrant, but on the life of a young adult who struggled with issues of cultural identity and self-esteem, helped to demonstrate that the world is a vast place, but the evils are all the same. Oscar Wao was just one of the many who have or is undergoing trying times but he just so happened to overcome them; even in his death. And although people today often like to pretend that individuality is respected, it is actually underappreciated especially due to the influences one with power may inflict. Trujillo turned out to be not just Oscar’s counterpart, but also as Oscar’s personal Fuku that he learned to eventually conquer in his own way.
He had his good qualities and his bad, and you could learn a lot from him. For example, you can see Piggy’s wisdom and intelligence on page 151, Ralph and Piggy go to the feast the boys are having and soon after, Piggy states, “Come away. There’s going to be trouble and we’ve had our meat.” Piggy knew there was going to be trouble a the feast and if Ralph had listened to him they wouldn’t have been caught up in the riot and kill Simon. A “Sophoclean hero” is a headstrong character that is willing to face the worse to attain his goal. This particular hero is always in need for peace even if it means breaking the laws and relies on principles. Antigone fought all the way for the pride and respect of her brother. She proved that she was capable of anything, even death. Creon is not a heroic character despite his excess on many aspects.
Martin Luther King, Jr. All progress is precarious, and the solution of one problem brings us face to face with another problem. Martin Luther King, Jr. Almost always, the creative dedicated minority has made the world better. Martin Luther King, Jr. An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity. Martin Luther King, Jr. An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law.
When he was approached by a gang that included Mr. Cunningham. He practically used not only his body, but his mind as a human barrier to keep Tom Robinson safe by all means. Even Mr. Underwood defended Atticus with gun ordering the rest of the gang to move away from him, illustrating the humourless of the encounter, while, Atticus remained strong and bold willing to do anything too protect his rights. This shows that Atticus is not afraid to die for something he knows is right if it benefits to everyone and he knows it takes courage to do Atticus was looked up to by
It is a fact that history confirms that no great achievements in individual lives and with societies occur without some struggle. For, only a dull complacency exists in people who have no conflict. LeGuin's short story, "The Ones Who Walked Away from Omelas" explores this very idea; in this story of a utopia of sorts, all the people but one are happy; they have been happy for so long that "smiles have become archaic." However, there is a dullness to their lives and an evasion of the reality of the existence of one who must suffer for the rest. Understanding the nature of conflict, and how to deal with it properly, could serve to improve those relationships that are affected by
Keep your thoughts free from hate, and you need have no fear from those who hate you." – George Washington Carver "While hate for our fellow man puts us in a living hell, holding good thoughts for them brings us an opposite state of living, one of happiness, success, peace. We are then in heaven." – George Washington Carver "[I]nstead of growing morose and despondent over opportunities either real or imaginary that are shut from us, let us rejoice at the many unexplored fields in which there is unlimited fame and fortune to the successful explorer and upon which there is no color line; simply survival of the fittest." – George Washington Carver "Our creator is the same and never changes despite the names given Him by people here and in all parts of the world.
