Valedictory Speech Theme: “ Hindi natitinag ang pusong Pinoy. ” Delivered by: Zechen Mary C. Panerio One of the most remarkable races in the world are undoubtedly we, Filipinos. We are a rare breed of people whose resilience to tribulations is awesome. Anywhere in the vast universe, one seldom finds people amidst agonies who can quickly settle an acceptance of the predicament they are experiencing. Whenever a Filipino victim of a calamity is asked of his misfortune, the only usual reply any interrogator receives is a hearty answer of “It’s God’s will… This is only a trial… I can overcome my loses… etc. Those responses illustrate the strength of character of the Filipino that although he’s gone through an adversity, he has got the courage to move on and do a recovery. Evacuation centers never seem a fortress at a camera lens of any news reporter. Victims who used to be utterly depressed flash a wide smile and project their best poses as if they were taking a shoot of a phenomenal “teleserye.” No hint of melancholy can be deciphered from such disposition. And what have others say about our less privileged brothers and sisters of six or more who feast on a can of sardines happily devouring their buffet when others can hardly be satisfied with an array of delectable menus on their glossy tables? Impoverished children, out of their innocence, got the nerve to play in muddy ponds collected through a run-off after a storm and their laughters toss till heavens of much jubilation and contentment while the offspring of the well-to-dos are tightly shielded with the most meticulous care in the fear of contracting infections from dirty waters. As a result, the lowly kids learned the merits of the game; yet the well-protected ones unlearned them.
