The narrator goes on to say that “I made him look brighter than he was”, this was done out of loyalty, the narrator was trying to help but it actually ended up wih Biggie and himself failing thier exams they “fried”. Biggie is also seen by the narrators mother as
The beef noodle that my friend cooked was nowhere near the pho that a lot of Americans can enjoy. It was bun bo Hue which was a very spicy kind noodle that we were also very proud of but cannot introduce much to the world because it had much of shrimp sauce in it. When you put shrimp sauce into the pot of boiling broth, the vaporizing steam brings out the smell of the sauce so strongly and fiercely that when you invite friends for home cooked bun bo Hue, you don’t have to give them the address, just tell them the street name and they will find your house correctly. My foxy friend put a very generous amount of shrimp sauce into his cunning plan and his poor next door neighbor raised up a sign of home for sale in no longer than a few month
Mair is not like most people who are living with MS; rather she uses humor to describe her condition. Other people may just sit around because they have Multiple Sclerosis, but Mair does not let the disease stop her. For example she says, “I am a superb, if messy cook” in paragraph 11 as she describes her daily routine to lighten the mood of the essay. She continues with the lighthearted tone as she says “I am also an enthusiastic laundress, capable of sorting a hamper full of clothes into five subtly differentiated piles.” She uses this humor to prove to the reader that she is successfully living with the disease. She MS is a disease that will eventually take her, yet she still tries to live each day with no regrets as many people should do.
Thomas Jefferson and Elizabeth Cady Stanton did a fantastic job in each of their pieces however some words can lose the readers in the process and take their minds from understanding the point to trying to figure out what a certain word means, and with that you can lose attention from the audience. Although it was acceptable back then because the norms for speaking and vocabulary were much higher than they are now, Barry is just relating to today’s average vocabulary. His style is centered on being informal and conversational. He is able to inform his audience of the fallacies of his kitchen and living room appliances and talk to them like they’re human, rather than talking at them as if he was giving a lecture. People don’t have that long of an attention span.
Their children are introduced to fried chicken, grits, and sweet tea at a young age. While someone from the north will argue that southern cuisine is not only unhealthy, but contributes to obesity and tooth decay. The southern 'drawl' is another source of pride to many confederates. A southern accent is certainly nothing to be ashamed of, as long as proper grammar is used, but it still may make us sound less intelligent
In the text there is also a sentence such as ‘the boys polished them with their spoons’ this quotation is showing that they were underfed in the workhouse and shows that they were suffering with starvation. The quote can also come across as quite emotive as it makes us feel very grateful for the food that we get and should be lucky for the food we get. The metaphor used makes the audience to create an image of what’s happening and can make audience feel very light hearted. In the other text they have also showed negativity views on food such as ‘dreaded bowl of gruel’ this portrays that they did not look forward to eating the food, this also shows the setting of the place very negative as it doesn’t seem very luxurious and shows that although they didn’t get any more food they still ate it because they had nothing else to eat and they needed to as they were suffering from starvation already and needed enough protein to stay healthy. Another quote is ‘was alcohol banned’ this is a rhetorical question which makes the audience think that the person who is asking the question is in despair because stereotypically alcohol is thought to be able to drown sorrows in.
In fact, the menu should have it all lower case, that’s the impressions that it left me with. Nothing on menu is surprising or exciting. They provide some interesting twists, but if you like your meals to be more special, this is not the place for you. My dinner was downright tasty- a grilled chicken topped with spinach and goat cheese. My girlfriend’s pork fontina was tasty too.
At Jaxsons I ordered the Buffalo wings with ranch. They were spicy but not too spicy. The fact that they were hot probably made them a little bit spicier. You can tell that they just didn’t deep fry them and that they breaded them before they went into the deep friar. I didn’t really like that but some people do.
It also did not hurt that the family was fairly good looking. “I had admired the perfect forms of my cottagers—their grace, beauty, and delicate complexions; but how was I terrified when I viewed myself in a transparent pool!”(Shelly 164). The monster comes to realize how disfigured and ugly he looks. Which makes the DeLaceys all the more appealing to
I’m from the sport of boxing and getting knocked out or breaking your nose was nothing, it’s the heart in you and how dedicated you are is the main thing I’m from the food of the deliciousness such as kebab on a stick with grilled meat and rice on the side, with hummus and falafel and steamy pita bread for eating it, it was always grilled perfectly and steamy. The family name of Bayyari which means rich farmers in the past. I’m from the terms “kul kara” “yallah ya habi” “wallah alait” terms that you well never guess what it means even if translated, only can be understood if you speak the ancient language. I’m from the religion of Islam, not Izlam, The people who always put other people first to help them, not the Taliban’s the true Muslims who always think deeply in life, from the words of the Quran is read and followed.
