I will be comparing and contrasting the interactions of persons, society, culture and environment both in contemporary societies across time. I will be be examining the influence of how micro and macro worlds celebrate Australia Day compared to how Jordanians celebrate Jordan Independence day. Across time, Australia Day and Jordan Independence Day are highly significant days for these countries as it recognises their nation's achievements. Firstly, on the 26th of January, 1788 the First Fleet of eleven convict ships arrived from Great Britain to Australia while Captain Arthur Philip raised the Union Jack at Sydney Cover. We now call this day 'Australia Day'. Australia Day celebrations reflect contemporary Australia, our diverse society and landscape as well as our remarkable achievements, for example Federation. We also like to reflect on our nations history, learning from the past so we can make Australia an even better place for the future. The 25th of May, 1946 is the day of the Jordanian achieved its independence from Britain. As a result the nation of Jordan cherish this day by making it a public holiday. During the Independence Day, universities and other academic institutions organise fun events for families and children such as festivals. Churches arrange special religious services to commemorate their independence as a country. Liberty of religion is broadly appreciated in Jordan, and example of this is when King Abdullah was greeted during this special holiday mass service held by the Orthodox Church, despite his Islamic beliefs. Additionally, Australia Day is viewed as a day to celebrate the nation as a whole and be proud of our advancements. However, it is important to note that the micro Indigenous society do not perceive Australia Day as significant compared to the rest of Australia as it reminds them of their deep loss.
