Smart Cars in India Smart Automobiles is a motorized division of Daimler AG that specifically manufactures in micro cars. Its centralized factory in is Hambach, France and its headquarters is in Böblingen, Germany. The automobile was coined “smart” with a “C” logo that represents “compact” and also an arrow for “forward thinking”. Many automobile companies have used the original design and customized it. For example, Smart Fortwo, it is now in its second generation and is also available in an electric form. Smart Cars were marketed internationally, including parts of Asia, North and South America, Australia and Europe. With gas prices reach its height worldwide, the timing was impeccably perfect for Daimler-Benz to introduce Smart Cars. The Smart Car was created by Nicolas Hayek. This entrepreneur ambitioned to create a small car that would be not only fuel efficient but also environmentally friendly and simple to park in small spaces. The first model of the car was first reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1997. The automobile was then placed on the market the following year. Hayek was dissatisfied with usage of a conventional engine; he wanted a hybrid or electric motor. The price of the vehicle was also much higher than expected. The Smart Car is ideal for crowded cities where parking and maneuvering are essential priorities. In a country like India where the cities are bustling with pedestrians and vehicles, I believe this would be an innovative idea to bring forth. In recent studies, India holds the highest ranking for fatal car accidents, with a resounding 130,000 deaths annually. Introducing Smart Cars would be an efficient way to prevent this from happening.
