I think that he showed discipline because not only does he demand respect as a manager, but he also gives respect to each and every one of his employees. Unity of Direction. He has developed a style that everyone in the organization is focused towards one goal. Remuneration. Since he came into the management position, they have given out $15 million to employees in profit sharing. Equity. He treats all of his employees fair and kind, which in return gives him respect from his workers. Stability and tenure of personnel. He gave employees time to learn their own specific jobs and believed that each department was just as important as the rest. Initiative. Chris showed initiative when he decided that there was a better way to lead, and took an outward bound course for a week. He came back with a new plan and attitude towards the company. 2. What would Mary Parker Follett probably say about Chris Martin’s management style? Explain. Mary Parker Follett would approve of his management style. She urged managers to motivate performance instead of demanding it. Martin’s style is to involve the workers more, respect them and they will give more in return. 3. I would think of Chris Martin as a Theory Y manager because he has a positive view of his employees and sees them as energetic, creative and willing workers.
