The Reasons For The War Of 1812 The Reasons for the War of 1812 The War of 1812 was a result of almost a decade of tension filled years between the British government and the American colonies. President James Madison requested a declaration of war to protect the economical foundation for America. In this research paper I will explain the reasons leading up to the War of 1812. Reasons’ being the Impressments of American ships, Economic losses for American caused by Impressment, the suspicions of British army’s supplying weapons to the Indians and the argument in Congress for and against the war. Impressment was a policy of forced recruitment of sailors by the British Royal Navy during the late 18th and early 19th century.
In 19th century America, shipping was the pillar holding up the states’ economy. When Great Britain began to use impressment of the American sailors and fuel hate against American settlers by providing the Natives with guns, President James Madison along with Congress declared war. June 1st 1812 marked the beginning of the 3-year war that would ultimately be fought for the soul of America itself. The war of 1812, in accordance with Bradford Perkins, was called “the strangest war in history” because the United States waged a war that the nation was not prepared for, and although the Americans suffered major losses, the war ended up uniting the people of the U.S. and prompting manufacturing in the young nation. The War of 1812 is also considered an unnatural war because the Treaty of Ghent ended the war but resolved none of the issues that started it.
Zimmerman promised to help Mexico regain lost territory that the United States took away (all of Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico). Unfortunately for Zimmerman, the British intercepted the message and decoded it. Then the British eagerly delivered it to President Wilson. To persuade Congress to give him the power to wage an undeclared naval war and protect American merchant ships against German submarines, Wilson published the Zimmerman note. A wave of anger swept through the United States and the Armed Ship bill was passed.
Washington waited for reinforcements and then attacked this fort, Fort Duquesne in 1754, marking the first bloodshed in the war. In 1756, after the conflict between the French and British turned into a world war, the British government changed. This change brought William Pitt into office as the head of the ministry. Some of Pitt’s actions and decisions not helped win the war in America, but they also were responsible for creating nationalistic views amongst members of the colonies. Pitt treated the colonists as allies rather than as servants that must follow orders.
How and why the war of 1812 fought .what was was the significance of its outcome. The war was fought between the United States and Great Britain .The war saw two nations battle at sea along the Canadian border and on the frontier .Other battles took place near the Chesapeake Bay on Atlantic Ocean. The major reasons for the war of 1812 were; -Great Britain had violated American sovereignty by refusing to surrender western ports as promised in the Treaty of Paris -The British and France were interfering with American trade and were taking American ships -The United States believed that Britain still not treating it as an independent country, and was actually providing Native Americans with guns to attack American settlers. -Great Britain controlled much of Canada and many Americans simply wanted to expel the British from North American and expand American border. These ongoing disputes led to the war of 1812.
An analysis of Britain’s imperial policies during the time period from 1763 to 1776 reveals that British policies regarding issues like taxation and political representation were directly responsible for intensifying colonial resistance to British rule and for strengthening the colonials’ commitment to republican values. Great Britain’s 1763 victory over France in the Seven Years War made it the dominate power in North America, but the challenges associated with managing such a vast Empire required British policymakers to make tough decisions in the years following the war. The Proclamation of 1763 created an incredible amount of anger not only in the colonies, but also with the Native Americans. Many of the actions that resulted from the Proclamation were simply due to the lack of cooperation between the British, colonists and Native Americans. Britain had taken what was rightfully won by the colonies, and this fueled the colonists desire for the American Revolution.

Furthermore, the attacks brought the United States of America into the war in the Allied side. In addition to the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor, the also attacked the British garrison at Hong Kong.

Why did the Boston Tea Party took place and what the results were?
The Boston Tea Party was the final act of focused rage against a Parliamentary law. The Americans were well organized to resist new financial demands placed upon them by the British Parliament. In 1765 the secret organization known as the Sons of Liberty was created to boycott British products. By early 1773 the assemblies of Massachusetts and Virginia had created the Committees of Correspondence, which were designed to communicate within the colonies any threats to American liberties. The Boston Tea Party was an important event of civil disobedience against the Royal Company that fired up Americans about the problem of the sugar act, the tea act and helped trigger the revolutionary war.
The embargo has its roots in an incident involving the Chesapeake, whereby British troops attacked the ship after being denied the permission to search it. In the process, they seized four Americans and hung one in accusation of desertion. The resultant public outrage and the ensuing embargo act meant poor ties with Britain and probation of imports from other countries. Te ultimate outcome was the 1812 war with Britain. At this point it became apparent that America needed to improve its transportation systems and enhance its manufacturing capacity.
