The separation of church and state has been, and still is, one of the most talked about aspect of The Constitution. Since our country was founded, people challenged the federal government about how much religion has become law. In other countries, religion has become law. There are numerous examples of countries that have national religions, but the most prominent countries are Iran, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Morocco. Iran's national religion is Shia Islam. Shia is the second largest demonization if Islam second to Sunni Islam. United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Morocco's national religion is Sunni Islam. Almost every country that has a national religion faces problems within their government. Here in America, we do not have a national religion, yet the idea of separation of church and state has been raised more than once. Thomas Jefferson and James Madison were very clear when they talked about church and state. Madison wrote in a letter, "The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe with blood for centuries." Madison and Jefferson feared the harsh monarchs of Europe and did not what that to happen to their new country. Countries that do have a national religion often face more violent and extreme problems. BBC news produced a special, titled, The Battle for Islam. This documentary is a prime example of how the national religion influences peoples everyday lives. Throughout the documentary, people are talking about the importance and significance of a national religion. In most Islamic countries, there are a very large population of one sec of Islam. This helps the argument out a lot. In America there are a lot of different types of religions divided up throughout the population. Another piece of evidence in the argument between church
