Tennessee State University’s Aristocrat of Bands’ Senior Day performance from 2011 was performance you would not want to miss out on. From the smooth transitions to the unique formations the show was a great one. On the other hand the unneeded gaps and bad timing before and during the time when the band presented the seniors. None the less, the performance was a great one. If the goal was to win over the crowd then it passed because they performed crowd pleasers, was synchronized for the most part, and gave the crowd something to remember. You can never go wrong with performing old school jams during halftime at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). Tennessee State University’s Aristocrat of Bands is known for their song choices and unique formation. Senior Day held up to that title. Performing “Never Can Say Goodbye” by Jackson 5, while the seniors were being announced was something that was going to be memorable for the seniors well past the end of their performance. There were gaps in the lines and band members off in formation at times. Do not get me wrong, the formation was good for the most part. How it flowed and was put together was very unique. Everything and everyone has a flaw, and the gaps and timing of some of the members being off were some of the flaws in the Senior Day performance. The majorettes had their flaws also, more so than the band. It was one side that was off for almost their entire performance. The right side had members that could not keep up. From the jump up splits to the falling on the ground, they were off. In particular, the third girl from the right was off the entire time of their performance until the naming of the seniors.
