We have a crisis on our hands with childhood obesity on the rise. Two main causes for the fattening of our children are junk food and sugary sodas. Junk food and soda often take the place of healthy foods in our kids’ diets, something that most school systems should be ashamed of. School lunches are a cause of childhood obesity in America, at least in U-46 schools. In order to put an end to childhood obesity, the schools needs to prepare a healthy yet balanced diet for all kids, by serving them with good food that is full of nutrition.
Lunch is an important meal of the day and many children eat it at school. It helps our bodies and brains grow and develop into the way that they are supposed to by boosting our metabolism and giving us energy for the rest of the day. But it's probably one of the biggest problems in schools throughout America. We are told to eat healthy and good but we cannot always do that with the choices we have at the school. Students are being fed unhealthy lunches at school cafeterias simply because it is cheaper to produce unhealthy processed foods so alternatives and healthier food go away.

One of the big reasons that children and teens are overweight is because of the foods that they eat. They are fed these fattening and unhealthy foods by the school system. Their futures and everyone else’s is at risk but we can change that if we change our choices.

Problems Minority children from low income families are negatively affected physically by the marketing of unhealthy foods. The most common health problem experienced by children today is obesity. Other obesity related diseases that fester due to unhealthy marketing to these groups are cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and sleep disordered breathing (Kumanyika & Grier, 2006). Marketers draw children to foods high in sugar, salt, and fat content by dangling toys and popular characters before their eyes. Unbeknownst to these children; they are begging for far more than just toys, prizes, and something tasty to eat.
Critical Analysis Essay “Food Cops on the Prowl” Obesity is one of the most serious problems of the childhood in the present. There are a lot of reasons to lead the obesity in young people. The article “Food Cops on the Prowl” pointed out the marketing of food companies is one of the important causes of childhood obesity. According to Pierce Hollingsworth (2004), there was so many causes lead to childhood obesity, not only the food marketing. He showed some causes of childhood obesity, and he thought that people should care more about the other causes.

The school lunches consist of frozen veggies, non-fresh fruit and processed meats. All processed foods are full of chemicals. Parents need to do something about the lunch that is being provided to our children. We need to stand up for them and get the schools to provide healthy foods.
Healthy Eating Plan Comparison Padrieka Cannon SCI 241 September 18, 2010 Rochelle Helminski This assignment forced me to really look at my diet at the start of this class was bad but has gotten worst. Based on the BMI I am considered overweight. As I did the first Diet Analysis assignment I noticed that I consumed large amounts of fats and sugars. I was very disappointed in my food choices and my lack of activity. The reason I believe that my diet is so poor is my life, I do a lot of eating on the run.
First, I think providing junk foods in school gives students a variety of food choices. Secondly, junk foods are convenient and a delicious source for snacks. Lastly, if the school stops selling junk food it would lose a lot of money. My first reason of why I support keeping junk food in school is that selling junk food provides students a variety of choices for lunch and snacks. Everyone can choose what they like to eat.
