That was not a good thing to do because it affected my metabolism and energy. I knew that I should try to eat several small meals during the day. I used to skip breakfast but not anymore. This was a crucial mistake in my path to weight loss. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
The Fast Food Industry is responsible for obesity in America as they have many fast food restaurants typically many within a small radius providing cheap easy solutions to societies hunger. David Zinczenko, a writer for The New York Times, describes marketing powers in his assessment "Don't Blame the Eater" he states that just about all fast food restaurants falsely advertise their foods and pass to many as a "healthy" meal choice but little do people know is that they are still extremely unhealthy foods that should not be included in anybody's diet what so ever. There has been many varieties of marketing techniques developed over the years of the fast food industry's attempts to persuade others to eat at their establishments. The fact that the foods they are extremely unhealthy for people of all ages from kids to adults is helping to cause obesity throughout America although some may be aware of the risks the average American still continues to eat out at fast food establishments along with the family giving the fast food industry a chance to get the entire family hooked for life. Going to fast food restaurants to prove his theory about how horrible fast food restaurants are for the human body.
Three-Day Food Intake Christina Gates SCI/220 October 22, 2012 Vicki Clithero Three-Day Food Intake The food intake for the three days I wasn’t aware of the amount of lipids that I took in. I just ate and drank whatever to monitor my usual diet. Proteins mostly came from the meat like the chicken patty, country fried steak, teriyaki chicken, bratwursts, eggs, and bacon. Most of everything that I had consumed had some sort of protein in the nutrition facts such as my instant mash potatoes has 2g worth of protein. Carbohydrates were in the sodas, mash potatoes also, toast, green beans, potato salad, bake beans, soba noodles, macaroni salad, and fried rice.
I can also conclude that I do not make the healthiest choices on the weekends. On Friday night I consumed an unhealthy quantity of chocolate and marshmallows, and on both Saturday and Sunday I ate only processed pizza at lunch. If these habits were continued for the rest of my life, this would be extremely unhealthy and would impact my life detrimentally. I was satisfied to observe that throughout the remainder of the week I was able to consume a balanced diet according to the Canadian Food Guide recommendation and in accordance to my high amounts of physical activity. To start off, the recommended weekly intake of milk and alternatives according to the Canadian Food Guide is approximately 24.5 servings; however, the results I have obtained throughout this week showed that my weekly intake of milk and alternatives was only 19, a difference of 5.5 servings!
3-Day Diet Analysis SCI241 1/20/2012 3-Day Diet Analysis When I first read the assignment for today I knew I was in nutritional trouble. First of all I do not eat 3 full meals throughout the day for my schedule is very hectic. On a good day, I may eat one meal a day and it’s normally a salad or fast food. With my schedule it’s hard to really calculate anything because some days I forget to eat. On those days, I sometimes drink Ensure to and take vitamins to make up for the nutrients I did not intake throughout the day.
Instead most people blame the fast food companies. In the article “Its Portion Distortion” by Shannon Brownlee it is portion sizes and the lack of nutritional guides that are the cause of obesity. While some people may believe that is true I have no idea how to read a nutritional guide and I was taught as I was growing up that fast food is bad for your health. For example the movie “Super Size me” was made to warn people about the dangers of eating nothing but fast food. My family eats out only once or twice a week and the other days we eat home cooked meals.
The Path to Obesity: Analysis of Super Size Me Many people eat fast food everyday but don’t realize just how unhealthy this situation can be for them. Director Morgan Spurlock decides to show just how unhealthy Americans have become with the way we consume fast food. Spurlock eats McDonalds for thirty days and decides to eat everything on the menu at least once. Also, if he was asked to “Super Size” his meal he had to and he limited his exercise like most Americans do today. This unbelievable experiment was made into the documentary Super Size Me.
Childhood Obesity Epidemic Everybody is always talking about childhood obesity in the Houston. They say we feed our children junk food, and that they get very little playing time outside, but do you know that childhood obesity happens not only in the Houston but all over the United States? Even in some other countries. The childhood obesity rate has climbed in other cities such as St. Louis, Great Britain, Washington D.C, and Philadelphia. But the main question this paper will answer is, “What causes the childhood obesity rate to rise in these different cities and how can we prevent them?” As we know the main causes to obesity is lack of exercise or poor eating habits, but in these different cities those aren’t the only reasons that childhood
There are several factors that can cause the childhood obesity in the low income community. According to the CDC, Low income families generally have less access to both healthy food choices and opportunities for physical activity. Many need nearby retail stores that provide healthy, affordable foods. Often without cars or convenient public transportation options, low income residents must rely for much of their shopping on expensive, fatty, processed foods sold at convenience/corner stores. These families usually have to purchase these foods with the SNAP benefits which these stores accept for payment.
Food Report I logged all of my food into a food tracker to get an accurate amount of information to determine if my diet was healthy or not. After about five days worth of data, I have enough data to form a conclusion. I will describe each aspect of the dietary guide lines, target amount and my amount. There are two different aspects of grains that people need on a daily basis. You need both whole grains and refined grains, but combined you need at least six ounces.
