Healthy Eating Plan Comparison Padrieka Cannon SCI 241 September 18, 2010 Rochelle Helminski This assignment forced me to really look at my diet at the start of this class was bad but has gotten worst. Based on the BMI I am considered overweight. As I did the first Diet Analysis assignment I noticed that I consumed large amounts of fats and sugars. I was very disappointed in my food choices and my lack of activity. The reason I believe that my diet is so poor is my life, I do a lot of eating on the run. Usually I have burgers, Pepsi and sweets. How could I have thought this was healthy? My eating habits usually consist of large amounts of junk food such as, cakes, cookies or pies. I also drink several Pepsis a day. A day of my diet would be breakfast consists of a sausage, egg and cheese croissant, hash browns, and a Dr. Pepper. Lunch is usually leftovers or pizza and a Pepsi. I normally do not eat dinner. It is a bad habit not to eat dinner but I pay for it in the morning because I’m starving. In between the normal meals I consume whatever junk food I can get on the go, like ice cream, candy, or cookies. This is no where near what I should have based on a healthy diet. According to the food pyramid I do not get the needed amounts in the various food groups. Based on the food pyramid I am supposed to consume a 2000 calorie diet. That diet will consist of 6 ounces of grains, 2.5 ounces of vegetables, 2 cups of fruits, 3 cups of milk, and 5.5 ounces of meats and beans. Breaking down my daily intake by food groups showing how much I need and how much I actually intake. The first group is grains. That food group would consist of brown rice, wheat bread, white bread, noodles, oatmeal, and grits. In the grain group I’m supposed to consume 6 ounces daily. Based on mypyramid.gov my daily intake is 5.9 ounces which is good. The
