Saving Precious Remains The sum of physical, chemical, biological, and cultural factors that affect life in any way is environment. Current environment has a great impact on the health and well-being of living beings. The world’s population is growing exponentially. To meet the demand of large population, pressure on natural resources or environment has increased. Further, unsustainable extraction of natural resources has led to serious environmental concerns. Forests are deteriorating, plant and animal species are disappearing, wetlands are disappearing, rivers are running dry, glaciers are melting, coral reefs are dying, temperatures are rising and there are more hungry people in the world than ever before. The Philippines is endowed with rich natural resources that can support the country’s national development and ensure that the Filipino people can live in peace and prosperity. But the Philippines is now experiencing unprecedented crises, and these resulted in environmental problems such as the inaccessibility of water to many Filipinos, air pollution, food insecurity, garbage and the threatened state of biodiversity among the country’s forest, agricultural and coastal and marine resources. For many years, solid wastes have been one of the major problems in the Philippines. The inefficient waste management in the country brings implications affecting the environment, and public health. And due to improper wastes disposal drainages clog up which causes floods in various areas. In this context of poor waste treatment and high population growth, water pollution is a growing problem for the country’s groundwater, rivers, lakes, and coastal areas. Why should we care about the environment? Isn’t that the responsibility of some foundations or government agencies? No, of course not.
