Also, it can be very addicting and most adolescents who have been exposed to marijuana at a young age have parents who also smoke it. An adolescent’s home environment and friends can be a big contributor on why they start abusing this harmful drug. Though other factors also contribute to whether or not someone will become addicted to other drugs after using marijuana, including biological, social and environmental factors, it stands confirmed that marijuana use often serves as a gateway to other drugs of addiction. Another environmental factor is because the person who sells the marijuana to them more than likely sells or does other drugs. Therefore, that person hangs out with others who do harder drugs and peer pressure them into trying it.
A family history of addiction provides a great risk of being an alcoholic. Most commonly is it being a psychological crutch helping them with daily or life problems. There were many reasons an adolescent will try and even abuse different types of drugs and possibly alcohol; some of them included peer pressure, boredom, and curiosity and/or family problems such as parents going through a divorce. There were many warning signs and consequences that both adolescents and others should looked out for when getting involved with drugs. Once addicted to any type of drug, it can have a long-lasting effect on that adolescent's life, which can unfortunately cause death if left untreated. There was hope for those addicted; by one recognizing that may have a problem it can help lead them on the road to recovery, which can be a reward all in itself. However, it was very beneficial for an adolescent to have support from others when recovering, along with encouragement, comfort and guidance.

Frequent adolescents binge drinkers are more likely to engaged in dangerous behaviors such as, partaking other drugs such as, marijuana and cocaine, having multiplies sex partners and earning d’s and f’s for academic grades.
