She got a weekly engagement with a jazz trio. She did this for two and one-half years. After graduating with a major in music at Potsdam, she moved on to Eastman School of Music for her master’s. Her voice teacher was John Malloy. While at Eastman, she performed a horrible first audition for the Met National
I also made life-long friendships, and I am still meeting new people at our meetings that we have during the school year. The summer before my junior year of high school I attended my 10-day residential Junior Conference at Christian Brothers University. Entering the program I had mixed feelings because I was so excited to meet new people, but at the same time I was extremely nervous because I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
Taylor Heskett Professor Raker English 101 January 16th 2013 Peers, Problems and a Presidency “Taylor you’d be great for this position!” I barely heard while I was counting down the seconds until my High school History class was over. “What did you say?” I proclaimed. My teacher, Mrs. Mckannan, elaborated her point by explaining that the election for Senior Class officers was approaching. I had always been a part of committees and clubs throughout High School but never before considered running for Senior Class office. Mrs. Mckannan said there was a major lack of interest this year and very few students were running.
It seems like it was just yesterday when I decided on what I wanted to do or to be in my life.Time has gone by but I still have the same idea and that is being a music teacher. When I was younger everything around me, including the people, influenced me to want to teach music . As a teenager I started working every summer at a music camp in New Orleans. My job was to teach children ages six to thirteen how to read music and also how to play the instruments. My first year here was difficult but by my second year I became someone my peers and younger kids than me looked up to.
Students swarmed Mr. Jones and me. Everyone, legitimately everyone introduced himself or herself. I felt like a raider already. Through out the rest of my high school career, with new classes, and new lunches, it’s never been hard for me to make a new raider friend, it’s
I am here to stay! All the experiences I’ve had with Ms. Melinda have been fun, challenging and thrilling! I’ve always had so much fun in my dance classes! It’s just the right place for me to have fun and let go. I really need that now as I’m in high school and there are more challenges than before.
I started out in ballet then the next 2 years did ballet and tap, in 4th and 5th grade I did jazz and tap and my last year I did hip hop. Dancing was fun but I got bored really easily with it. It was more of way to spend time with my friends because we all did it. I never wanted to be competitive with it and that's why I never went outside of school with it. Ballet wasn't the only thing I did in elementary school.
I can’t really remember how I felt towards the end of that school year, but one thing I know for sure is I couldn’t wait to take on high school with all my childhood classmates by my side. I walked through the doors of Happy Mountain High School not knowing what to expect, but I was prepared to have an amazing time in the years to come. During my high school career, I have met so many people who I know I can rely on. If there is one thing I know I will carry with me for the rest of my life, it is that having friends by your side will help you make the best of any situation you are going through. In my years in high school, I have realized I enjoy many things that I never knew I would, such as; running track, participating in school events, and working hard in all my
when school was over that day, i had gotten so many good feedbacks from kids i knew and some i never seen around before. the news went through Centennial Elementary School so quick i felt lke a superstar being greeted from so many people. i met alot of new friends and i was happy i did accept the boys challenge. it broke me out of my shell and ever since then i wasnt scared to do something daring but was still smart about what i choose. im still shy to a certain point still to this day, but not as shy as i was before thanks to that stunt i had to pull off in fourth
Because it was so easy for me to get all A in first semester; gradually, I began wasting time. Go to the bar, smoke, drinking and play for a long time, it resulted me fail two classes in the second semester, Until I met a girl who is 2 years younger than me, I changed my thought. She is a hard-working student and get 4.0 GPA so far and she will transfer to UC Berkeley next year. Her desire to advance encourages me to merge into the right way, and she and I fall in love with each other. A girl let me pick up my confidence again and her attitude for study stimulate my progress in the same time.
