Routine Emails and Persuasive Memos I have worked in the United States Army for 10 years and can honestly tell you that almost every day is different from the last. Sometimes we will be deployed to a foreign country conducting missions to stabilize the local government, while others we will be sweeping the parking lot behind our unit in the United States. Each day provides new challenges and obstacles. Having served a number of years I have run quite the gambit of jobs and can say that each day’s challenges hardly surprise me anymore. The surprise and aggravation comes from the people that I work with, mainly the lower enlisted soldiers. It seems that they are never happy. On the days when we have little to do and are basically on standby for last minute duties the soldiers will sit around and complain that there is nothing to do and we should all go home and take the rest of the day off. The author really held my attention by using descriptive humorous antidotes and making the essay easy to read. He started the essay off with the attention grabber and then flowed into the rest of his story. By the end I truly agreed with him and actually got a little upset at some of the same issues that I recalled while reading his examples. My online comment would convey my concurrence with the message relayed in the essay. It would go something like this: I completely agree with you, just the other day I was in my car waiting for a red light. When it turned green the car in front of did not move because the woman in front of me had her complete make-up kit out trying to use the 5 seconds we were waiting to apply her make-up. The author is completely correct people should utilize a little more time management and conduct their personal hygiene in the privacy of their own
