The rise of technology in our world is incredible, one day we have flip phones and another we have the ability to use our phone screens as a touch pad. These types of inventions come from great thinkers, similar to those of the past like Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Edison. In this essay, I wanted to compare and contrast the companies of two marvelous thinkers that changed the way humans think and interact, those two being Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, and their companies Microsoft and Apple. I will compare their two owners and their creations, and I will talk about the differences of their leadership. First I will speak on the two owners of these companies, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.
Wayne Gretzky “The Great One” Born in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, January 26, 1961. Wayne began skating at the age of three on a backyard rink built by his father,Walter. He began playing organized hockey in grade school and was soon such a dominant scorer that he was moved out of his age bracket to play with players several years older. Is Supreme Overrated? This is an article from my media project exploring the impact social media has had on the brand Supreme has been around for quite a while: eighteen years to be exact. When the first Supreme store opened it’s doors on downtown Manhattan’s Lafayette Street in 1994, James Jebbia, its founder, didn't really know much about the skateboarding crowd but was intrigued by its rebelliousness and creativity. He worked hard, then and now, to be true to that scene by hiring local skaters to work in the store to appeal to his demographic. In 1963, skateboarding was at a peak of popularity, and companies such as Jack's, Hobie and Makaha started holding skateboarding competitions. Skateboarding was mostly either downhill racing or freestyle. Torger Johnson, Woody Woodward and Danny Berer were some well known skateboarders at that time, but what they did looked almost completely different from what skateboarding looks like today!? Their style of skateboarding, called "freestyle", is more like dancing ballet or ice skating with a skateboard. That’s what is now called old school skateboarding and most skaters still appreciate that to this day.
This movie is pretty famous and is about a gang of boys with greased hair (in this case greasers) get through their last year of highschool together, in this same type of background in the 50′s era. It is similar to the book through the type of background it is and once again the time it took place in. In modern school today, in our school their are some common typical incidences where one kid or a group of people are singled out like outsiders. clearly, this can be conected to in the book how the group of greasers and the rest of all of them are singled out by the socs liked outsiders. They are singled out because of how they are different.
