Road Accidents Road Accidents As we all know the number of incidents of occurring road accidents are increasing in an alarming rate. Not a single day passes off these days without the news of road accidents claiming lives of the people. Today road traffic injuries are one of the leading causes of deaths, disabilities and hospitalizations with severe socioeconomic costs across the world. Every 30 second someone is killed in a road accident. Road transport deserves a high priority as it can effectively meet the demand for transport arising out of growing economic, social, health, cultural and religious needs of the people. To begin with, the major reasons for road accidents is the reckless driving of the drivers the unconsciousness of the pedestrians According to the statistics the Commission for Global Road Safety (2009), road traffic accidents has killed an estimated 1.3 million people and injured 50 million people per year globally, and global road fatalities are forecast to reach 1.9 million by 2020. It is estimated that the number of deaths from road accidents in Asia is about 700,000 per year, accounting for more than half of the world’s road fatalities even though Asia accounted for only 43% of the global vehicle population in 2007 However the increase of road accidents takes place mainly as a result of the rapid growth of population, economic development and industrialization of the country. So it’s our responsibility to educate the society and make them more concerned about their living surrounding as much as possible to contribute to save innocent
