“People, tend to dwell on the past. I like to dwell on the future. After all, that is where I will be spending the rest of my life.” ~ Leslie Fieger Education, knowledge, family and faith are the driving force of my life. I feel that I am an excellent candidate for the Texas A&M University in Central Texas cohort program dedicated to preparing teachers to become tomorrow’s principals. I am attracted to the opportunity of maintaining my ability to work professionally as a Secondary Science Teacher in the local community and to continue my own knowledge in the field of Master of Arts in Education with a Principal certification.
I will create this environment through an engaging curriculum, personable interaction, topic orientated discussions, and group work. Since my license will include an endorsement in Special Education my classroom management will include a focus on flexibility defined as the ability to respond to the moods, emotions and the capabilities of my students on any given day. Meeting the needs of my students, based on their individual need, will be a crucial part of my classroom management structure. I will accomplishment this by promoting self-management and self-efficacy in my students to the best of their abilities. Creating a predictable, consistent, and success-oriented environment will promote self-management in my students by creating, basic, daily routines with limited changes (Savage & Savage, 2010).
Education Introduction As a student, teacher, mother, and friend my purpose for enrolling in “Issues in Diversity & World Culture was: a degree plan necessity, enrichment for work, and personal interest. I consider myself as a person who accepts differences in people; cultural, physical, educational, and the personal experiences everyone brings to every venue. My expectations at the beginning of the course were that of an interested individual who enjoys learning, I understood the course description as an opportunity for personal and scholastic growth as a member of the community. In my role as an educator I am faced with the challenge of recognizing cultural differences and discovering an effective way to teach all students tools
This will take into consideration the following ; what must be done by the candidate teacher to ensure professionalism in the ways I present myself and interact with others, what kinds of behavior I wish to see in my students now and in the future, what emotional and moral qualities will be promoted in the classroom to help develop students, what provisions will be made to encourage and enable students to conduct themselves in a responsible manner, and the tactics that will be used to intervene effectively when misbehavior occurs in the classroom (Charles, 2008). How I will present and conduct myself As a teacher, it is my responsibility to always give my students 100% of myself, as I expect the same in return from them. Just as students will be held to certain expectations, as their teacher they will also hold certain expectations of me. In an effort to always present and conduct myself in a professional manner, I will do the following: * Maintain an appearance that is professional at all times * Enthusiastically greet students at the door when they

This framework was provided in chapter I by Theoharis (2009), and is essential in sifting out bad practices, attitudes, established rules and guidelines, racism, and discrimination. These practices must be all inclusive to welcome my colleagues ideas for change to intently make an impact in our students academic studies. Accepting positive and negative feedback from my colleagues without becoming upset or defensive, is in the best interest of our students success. Interchanging of ideas amongst my colleagues will create a network of talent, respect, and effective

My peer groups reinforced cultural values in me as well, with them I became more aware about what the cultural norm for acceptable behaviour is. The mass media has also helped my socialization process. They have informed me about special events, provided numerous viewpoints on current issues, introduced me to a wide variety of people, informed me about special products and services that were in high demand, and provided a means of entertainment by giving me an opportunity to live through other people’s experiences. I grew up in the technology era. Therefore, I was exposed to all kinds of electronic, games, videos, and computers.
After reading the article I understand that content integration in the curriculum is only the first dimension of multicultural education. Students come to school with prejudices toward different groups and that is why all teachers, whether you teach math or social studies, should be sensitive to that matter and work towards reduce prejudice in their classrooms and school and create a more positive racial attitude among the students. It is in the hands of educators to encourage students to become more critical readers and thinkers, and help them understand the values that underline knowledge. Students need construct their own knowledge and think for themselves. Teachers need to help students understand the implicit cultural assumptions and perspectives of the discipline they’re teaching.
