Although college enrollment appears to be slowing down in some community colleges across the nation, for-profit schools have increased enrollment by thousands of students every year. For-profit universities are becoming more popular than other community colleges for their fast route to graduating. Advertising is common for for-profit colleges by persuading students that coming to college will be the best decision; it benefits colleges by putting more money out for ads than what is spent on the school itself for faculty. Advertising has become more of a hook to reel in students to apply based on the competition of other colleges and the need to double the ratio of students from the previous years. Advertisments and advertisers from for-profit colleges have different methods toward the students they target. Recruiters look for people who know very little about for-profit colleges. The people who are willing to give advertisers the time to listen and believe what they say are who they search for. Listening to a recruiter from a college makes people feel that they’re capable of being in college, in some way it boosts their self-confidence to make them feel just as smart as everyone else in college. Frontline College Inc. says that the money that is spent on advertisements is a big percentage than what is spent on the faculty and educators of the school. Colleges spend a lot of time figuring out how they are going to get students to enroll instead of being focused on the students concerns. Education should be first priority with schools, because of the amount they are paying for a better future, for-profits pay double of what students pay for regular community colleges.
