2. The boy has to learn to respond to these omens so he can take them and follow his personal legend to the conclusion. Leaving Fatima 1. “you must understand that love never keeps a man from pursuing his personal legend. If he abandons that pursuit, it’s because it wasn’t true love…the love that speaks the language of the world.” 2.
While he was looking for Jean, he saw that the right thing to do was not to arrest him, but to come to realization that he had changed. However, in Javert’s mind, the right thing to do was to arrest Valjean for being the convict that he is. But what Javert had to understand was that people really could change. You just have to look harder. Searching for something that seems to be the “truth” can cause blindness on what is the “real” truth.
1). Letting go of the denial and admitting that there is a problem, obtaining a solid support system, and commitment is key to successfully conquering denial and ultimately addiction. Overcoming denial and admitting there is a problem can be more difficult than it sounds. According to the article “How to let go of Addictions” (2008), continuing to live in denial will only deplete your mind, body, and soul of energy and the realities of life. One has to learn to let go of the need to deny by allowing oneself to become safe and strong enough to cope with the truth (“Addictions,” 2008).
All in all The Alchemist and “Life Ain’t Always Beautiful” have similar themes in which one sees the hardships in life, but finds the strength to overcome them. “There is only one way to learn…It’s through action. Everything you need to know you have learned through your journey” (Coelho 132). What does this mean? It means that one has to use action to get through one’s life struggles and learn from them, the actions one takes can make you wise.
According to Superson, in order for self-interest to successfully defeat the skeptic it must defeat both action and disposition skepticism, which is where it lacks. It is unable to show that for every (ordinary) person, acting morally will always be in that person’s self-interest. There are also immoral acts other than self-interested ones that are at least as much in opposition to morality. A successful defeat must show that all immoral acts are irrational. Superson’s goal is to defeat the skeptic and does not believe self-interest is sufficient enough to do so.
Introduction: “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho, is a novel that explores the idea of people's paths of self-discovery, as well as their fulfillment and “success” in life. Coelho embraces this thought by basing the plotline on a boy who takes a magnificent journey to discover, and achieve his “Personal Legend”. The boy, Santiago, is eventually rewarded with treasure when he at last fulfilled his Personal Legend at the end of the book. But in a certain way Coelho left a very subjective question at the end of his story. What was Santiago’s Personal Legend really?
Nature in the novel in the form of Santiago and the sharks, but this also includes Santiago against himself as he must gather up all of the strength within himself and overcome his doubts to prove that he can make it back home and that nature cannot stop him. Another conflict that I think is important to the novel and the character of Santiago is Santiago's spirituality. Santiago does not consider himself to be a religious person but in times of great hardship he will pray to the Virgin Mary, which I find to be somewhat hypocritical. It has been so long since he previously prayed that he does not fully remember his prayers. This is a great example of Man Vs. Self because he is coming to terms with his own spirituality and his belief in a higher power.
The valley represents the self defeating ways that people give up on ideas that would otherwise be achievable. The valleys need patience, dedication and resilience to achieve. The peaks encompass one’s ability to realize their individual strengths and the competence to change the outcome of tough situations. This book is resourceful in providing life skills that enable individuals to rely on their abilities to conquer fear. In life there are setbacks and low points that a person has no power to control.
CONCLUTION- If not done the consequences will be horrible. For not just you’re self but all the people around you. You will not get any respect or trust from the people you need it from the most. You can not disobey or argue and should always be polite not rude and in a rush. Always try to be the best you can be,that is what the 5 rules are
The first important theme is denial where each character showcase their denial of certain aspects of their lives. Willy has denial against himself and what he is because he wants to be big and known which he isn't but he thinks he is and so he denies the fact that he is just an ordinary human being. Also, throughout the play the characters keep contradicting themselves and it is seen a number of times especially with Willy. For example, in the first scene he states that Biff is lazy but then he goes on a line or two later to state that he is a hard working lad and that he is not lazy. This behavior is why he can not accept reality in order to ignore the present and re live the past.
