The poem “Upon the Burning of our House,” by Anne Bradstreet, was in many ways one of the most devout showings of Puritanism. Bradstreet makes many allusions to the bible, as well as to God himself. The poem proves that all in the world is temporary in the eyes of God, but only as a test for our faith in him. Bradstreet uses both allusion, and inverted syntax to show just how temporary mundane items are. These two literary devices are also used to create the dramatic setting of the poem and form the ideas of Puritan values.
In this study we are to consider blasphemy against the members of the Godhead and especially against the third member, of the Holy Spirit. When one attempts to injure by speech, either oral or written, God or any divine person, that one is guilty of blasphemy. To speak against any of the revealed attributes of God, Christ, or Holy Spirit is to blaspheme. When one speaks irreverently of the word of God, one is speaking blasphemously. When one profanes the worship of God by speaking against it, that one is guilty of the high crime of blasphemy.
Puritanical Beliefs Princeton defines Puritanism as “strictness and austerity in conduct and religion”. This is a understatement, when referring to the Puritan people of the 16th and 17th century. Based on the idealism of Anglican Christianity and the beliefs of a man by the name of Roger Calvin, Puritanistic incorporation of fundamental values based on the bible makes it seem quite like an extremist-like sect. Puritan life requires unwavering devotion and unfaltering faith - a difficult ambition to achieve in mid-1600 English society. Oppression by the Anglican Church was overwhelming, not to mention prevalent sinful behavior that plagued the continent – contradicting core puritan beliefs.

Secondly, to analyze the understanding and role of the early churches and Christians, what was done or should have been done, how they were done and those things that were not done. Thirdly, to make a wake-up call to the new generations churches and strategize on how we can triumph in this battle.

War is an incredibly disastrous act that should only take place when all other alternatives have been exhausted. All nations have a very intricate relationship which entails complicated solutions and negotiation along with many persons who have opposed views and cultures. Although religion gives a person meaning to life, it guides people into the right direction, comforts people in times of sadness, and connects people together.

But in 1685, the year in which Locke wrote the First Letter concerning religious toleration, Louis XIV had revoked the Edict of Nantes, and the Huguenots were being persecuted and forced to emigrate on mass. People in England were keenly aware of the events taking place in France. In England itself, religious conflict dominated the 17th century, contributing in important respects to the coming of the English civil war, and the abolishing of the Anglican Church during the Protectorate. After the Restoration of Charles II, Anglicans in parliament passed laws which repressed both Catholics and Protestant sects such as Presbyterians, Baptists, Quakers and Unitarians who did not agree with the doctrines or practices of the state Church. Of these various dissenting sects, some were closer to the Anglicans, others more remote.

During the time of Arius, the true nature of Jesus Christ resided at the top of a controversy list, which had many in the church quarreling. In a time prior to the ecumenical councils when the church’s view of Christ was not concretely established, Arius was purposing an angelic Christ. In this paper, I will detail that although the Christian church has sought to clear the misconceptions of Arianism through the centuries, it is still being practiced. I assert that modern day Arianism can be found in the theology of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. This is the organization responsible for leading and instructing the modern Christian
