Unlike public schools, charter schools allow parents to become more involved with their children’s school environment, teachings, and progress. One of their main goals is to improve the education system. But, a negative aspect of being a charter school is that the schools must meet their required goals, and have the possibility of closing if unattained. This is why some parents have a tough time deciding whether or not their children should attend charter schools because they have the potential to close if goals aren’t met. In relation to expenditures, charter schools are funded through sponsors and grants (Vann 1).
While there are several “rags to riches” stories that serve to encourage the members of the lower class to work hard and achieve their dreams, much truth lies in the fact that the government does not provide enough opportunities for them to do so. I would recommend revising the school choice provision of the No Child Left Behind Act in order to enable the mobility of students to schools located outside of their district. By doing so, many of the children within the working class would have the option to attend a school where they could receive the same opportunities as those of their high-born
Not every parent has the financial Stability to send their kids to schools with great education programs, as shown in waiting for Superman. So why should the innocent children be the ones being punished for something they Have no control over? By having more well educated people in the world it will make the environment a better place. The future needs to be thought about while changes and problems are being addressed. The school board and the people within the school systems need to have more caring feelings about those students who are being left behind.
Local Government. The LEA's duty is to ensure a high standard of education for all children, including those with SEN. One main role they have is implement the policies set by the National Government and follow the curriculum they also set. They are responsible for things such as; catchment areas, funding for trips, free school meals, hiring the staff/maintenance staff/cleaners/caterers etc. When parents and/ or carers apply for a school for their child to attend, they may not always get in if they do not fit the criteria (catchment area). Therefore, the LEA has to deal with the appeals process.
Low income will mean that parents will be unable afford educational books or tutoring in order to help the student pass. I believe that school uniforms should not be required for a few reasons. Uniforms take away from a person's individual identity and freedom to express himself or herself. They can be costly to people depending on a family’s financial status. School uniforms can also be a very uncomfortable fashion that students would not take a liking to.
Seems like the GOP does not understand that even though the average family can’t afford to send their kids to a top tier university does not mean they do not want to take advantage of early learning. Romney, the GOP nominee, was talking to students in Ohio and told them if you want to go to college to just borrow money from their parents. That statement along with the GOP opposing the Presidents student loan reform shows that the party is not connected with average American. Also part of the education cuts was to limit funding for public schoolteachers. Finding and keeping good teachers cost money.
Which means the budget would have to provide $295 million for our Administration to reauthorize the proposal to have the support of a higher – quality of public education. This will benefit the students that are attending low – performing schools, (Dept. of Education, 2012). This will need to be implemented with money, time manpower, and the materials for the students to use in classroom. The Title I and IDEA Grants will sustain the commitment to help the disadvantage students and which will also, include the diverse students, as well as, students with disabilities.
Those parents have to stay vigorously involved in schooling their kids. Surely the obligation to ensure our nation’s future must be shared also by those who don’t have children in the public schools. Those people who should take an interest in the students that will eventually be stepping into the workforce. They should be developing work-study groups, internships and job placement banks that they can recruit and develop to be successful. Evidently, the tasks of educating our children nowadays are a lot more difficult than simple examinations and easy solutions.
