STUDENTS LEARNING OUTCOME Rock Valley College have been and will continue to help student graduate or continue their education with the best knowledge of the student learning outcome also knowing as SLO. The six SLO are Communicate effectively, Integrate technology into all fields of knowledge and expression, Demonstrate competency in critical thinking, Respect and work effectively with persons of diverse backgrounds and abilities, Demonstrate the behaviors of ethical and socially responsible citizens, and last one is Demonstrate personal wellness. In the real world SLO is very important; u might not need to learn all of them, but at least most, RVC knows that’s important for the real world, career and life we as student choose. Upon completion of the RVC, we as students should be able to recognize and understand SLO and master it. What is SLO?
The Ethical Lens Inventory and Career Plan Building Activity on reasoning are both really great tools for setting you on the right path towards achieving all your academic and career goals. Through both of these assessments I have learned many great things as well as something’s I may need to work on when it comes to the way I work. In The Ethical Lens Inventory I found some very shocking results that I found to be right on queue with how I really do function in the work place. For example the results of this assessment basically told me that I tend to prioritize my independence and promotion in the workplace over any equality with my coworkers. I found this information to be false until really reflecting on my true nature in the workplace.
UNIT 202 Introduction to personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings. Outcome 1 Understand what is required for competence in own work role 1/ As a care worker it is my duties to ensure I promote a professional and well presented manner. It is my duty to ensure I have been given full training when regarding to medical or manual handling activities. It is my responsibility to ensure the safety and protection of the people I support. I must report any danger that I think can cause harm to myself or others, I have a responsibility to follow company procedures and policies always within my own role.
Following these guidelines, procedures and codes of practice allow everyone to be treated equally and help prevent or solve any issues that arise in the work place. Planning and priority of my work is fundamental as without a plan I would not have a clear idea of what needs to be done, affecting my time management and causing disturbance to others who are depending on my work. With a plan such as a ‘to do list’ I am able to work effectively and efficiently knowing approximately what I am doing to guarantee anything of high importance can be processed immediately. As a result, if I am asked to take on more work I can check my plan and give a realistic answer. Agreeing to realistic targets and being honest with the amount of work I am able to handle allows me to manage my work flow accordingly ensuring targets are realistic to achieve.
This framework was provided in chapter I by Theoharis (2009), and is essential in sifting out bad practices, attitudes, established rules and guidelines, racism, and discrimination. These practices must be all inclusive to welcome my colleagues ideas for change to intently make an impact in our students academic studies. Accepting positive and negative feedback from my colleagues without becoming upset or defensive, is in the best interest of our students success. Interchanging of ideas amongst my colleagues will create a network of talent, respect, and effective
Thinking in positive ways not only makes me feel better about situations, but I know it also helps other people dealing with the situation too. So if people ever need help with something I might be the person they will like to come too. All in all I am glad I took the survey and got this little outlook on my strengths. I do believe they fit me and I will use them to better prepare for my
Nathan Prince GS 1145 5-11-15 Unit 9 Assignment 1: Adding to My Self-Knowledge In taking the various personality tests to see where my strengths and weakness lay, some introspection on improvement has been able to take place. Many of my strengths seem to be based on leadership skills and keeping true to standards and traditions. These are good qualities to have but can also get in the way of outside opinions and accepting of new ideas. Finding a balance between the two spectrums will really help develop a more balanced person in my opinion. The test that examines more in depth of leadership styles produced a somewhat predicted outcome.
If I have to sell a ‘product’, then it is one in which I must have my heart. Similarly, detailed and passionate knowledge of my subject is a given; as is the prerequisite of thorough research prior to and during the unit. Learning should be modelled, regardless of age or academic attainment. If I want commitment from my students, then I must do the same. Students need to see that there is equity in the classroom, including clear, consistent guidelines concerning procedures, expectations and discipline.
I was surprised that my blind spot was identified to be overconfidence in process because I rarely feel confident in anything. My values were described to be justice and fortitude and resultant behaviors are that I demonstrate courage and steadiness in the face of obstacles and I tend to avoid rash actions. My ethical lens directs my academic behavior by giving me good reasoning skills and allowing me to think through problems carefully and research all options. My ethical lens influences my critical thinking because it allows me to make informed decisions that I find are best for the well-being of everyone around me. I believe that a person’s emotions can influence critical thinking because some people’s ethical lens is more heartfelt and can let them make decisions with their emotions instead of with their knowledge and brain.
2011, p.123). The Hypnotherapy Society developed their code of ethics from the BACP code of ethics 2002. It is a lengthy document so I will extract the issues that illustrate the overriding principles that an ethical therapist will adhere to. A therapist must always aim to give the best quality of care to a client and recognise their limitations due to training and experience. They must constantly evaluate and review any treatment given so as to keep the best interests of the client and to help them in the most effective way possible, i.e never prolonging treatment unnecessarily.
