Purpose: to persuade and inform people about the issue whether asylum seekers should be allowed into Australia Why not accept? Asylum seekers are internally displaced persons, returnees and those in need of temporary or humanitarian protection and so they should be allowed into Australia. For many years Asylum seekers have been trying to come into our country because people in their own country have been treating them badly, but our government does not seem to want them. The government must change their thoughts and aim more towards accepting these asylums who have been through a lot and give them a place our country. Clearly, being asylum seekers, these people are fleeing something at least moderately a situation where the Sri Lankan government is killing 1400 a week of the 300,000 detained in concentration camps. This horror, that drives people to flee with nothing other than the clothes on their back, and the politicians and the media are calling them a “push factor”. The Australian governments think of the people escaping war as thinking of these people as livestock and as less marketable, not profitable, but apparently just as disposable. With this in thought the government should think again and change its mind so that they can see that Asylum seekers should be brought into Australia. The asylums gamble to get to our country and get a decent life, riding in rickety, dangerous boats, but then our country does the wrong thing and rejects them which seem very cruel. It's simply not right that people can pay large sums to people smugglers to jump the queue when there are tens of thousands of people who are simply too poor or too law abiding to come illegally and who have been waiting for years in dreadful conditions in refugee
