Or will you spend all your money to send them on a tremendously unsafe and overcrowded leaky boat trip where they will most likely die? And if they make it, they’re be processed in safely? Those ‘boat people’ come from poor regions and spend their entire life savings trying to get on a boat to send their family off to countries to escape from oppression, war, persecution or poverty in their home nations since their won government is unable or unwilling to protect them. Therefore, they have got no other choice but to escape in haste, without the time or the accessible resources to apply for visas. It’d be the hardest decision they will ever make in their lifetime and could be something they would regret forever.
Three of the crew members desert the ship before the ship leaves, adding to the discontentment of the officers as well as the crew members. Shortly after the Bounty sets sail for the West Indies, Fletcher Christian leads the mutiny and forces Bligh and some of Bligh’s followers off the Bounty and onto a life boat. Bligh and his followers were striped of charts and compasses; all they were given was the life boat, the oars, a pocket watch, and a quadrant. Bligh and his eighteen followers barely survived the trip in the small boat to Timor, in the Dutch East Indies. Meanwhile, Fletcher Christian and the other crew members returned to Tahiti to reunite with their women and then set sail to Pitcairn Island.
Citizens are fleeing the country by the day, as it pumps out refugees like water from a garden hose, with one of the highest refugee rates in the world; even those who do not leave the country are often displaced within. The lack of a good foundation has led to the method of relying on violence as a means of survival with a heavy influx of guns, as evidenced in a quote from the documentary by a Somali pirate nicknamed “The Poet”, who states: “After 23 years of civil war, poverty, destruction, causing only more self-destruction. You can’t sleep without the sound of a gun, they can’t eat without the sound of a gun, they can’t even pray or beg without the sound of a gun. I mean, where do they get all those weapons from? You know what I’m saying?
During the next three years East Germany steadily declined and a steady flow of refugees were fleeing to West Germany (Danforth). The Cold War came next. A nuclear face off between two opposing world superpowers, USA and USSR began. Berlin being itself divided, was the front line in a war that wasn’t a war. In 1948, Communist East Germany, frustrated with the exodus of hundreds of thousands of young skilled laborers, closed all border crossings in and out of East Germany, trapping over a million West Berlin citizens with little food, money, or fuel over a hundred miles inside East Germany.
The Party that rules over Oceania in the novel “1984” destroyed all books that were published before 1960. The novel states there was a “total destruction of all books published before 1960.” The Party had these books destroyed because it helped their regime into power. They did this because they needed to destroy the memories of the citizens so they wouldn’t question the acts of the Party. To do this they had to destroy the past, hence the destruction of these books. Maione 2 The Party edits documents to favour themselves and hide the truth from citizens.
To. Mrs. Hopkins, Recently, I have read your controversial and callous article ‘If Britain is prepared to provide an all-inclusive resort service for asylum seekers, the least they can do is wear a bloody wristband.’ From a student with a family member who has experienced being a refugee, I know that the issues regarding asylum seekers and refugees are critical in the modern society. Therefore, I feel that the article you have written, mostly oversimplified and prejudiced, could mislead lots of readers to have undesirable views of those people who are in need. Although most of your arguments are either factually incorrect or oversimplified, some of your points are undeniably true. For instance: a normal worker from the UK whom ‘might earn £30K a year’ has had to ‘hand over £7000’ which could lead to an increasing divide between native Brits and asylum seekers and between politicians and normal workers.
An article from the Sydney Morning Herald uses this technique on numerous occasions. ‘All up 3032 passengers have arrived in Australia seeking asylum…if trend continues more than 32,000 asylum seekers can be expected’. Using this technique put the thought into the readers head so they think; if we do not fix this problem, the future outcome will be far worse. Therefore, we need to stop this. Journalists employ this technique into their articles to make the readers feel as if they know enough about the issue for them to come to their own conclusion, although the decision has already been made by the
According to Mayra Calvani in her journal in World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) mentioned that in Latin America and Europe, around 250,000 bulls die per year due to tortured and killed for entertainment purpose especially in bullfighting. (M.Calvani, 2008)². This shows that, keeping animals for entertainment purposes promotes animal abuse. Secondly, captivity also takes away animals’ freedom. Many of wild animals cannot cope with situation that they are taken from their natural habitats and placed in captivity.
Stricter borders caused more tragedy due to the facts the people used alternative routes to enter the states such as crossing large deserts, with little food or water causing death. Being smuggled in semi-trailers, causing suffocation and death. Sending young children to the United States first in hopes that they cannot be turned away. These people want to live a better life and in turn many lose their life in trying come to the United States to live their dreams. This is not right, or rational that people would risk so much in order to come to the United States, to work a job that most American citizens will not work.
Any genocide in history is important because a lot of people died in cruel and unusual ways and it’s wrong. Victims of any genocide did not deserve to be discriminated against and did nothing to deserve to be killed from pure hate, and that is exactly what happened in the Ukraine Famine. The Ukraine Famine was headed by Joseph Stalin during 1932-1933. Millions Ukrainian people starved to death and as a result, it oppressed the national pride of the Ukrainian people. In 1929, Stalin arrested over 5,000 educated Ukrainian people and they were either shot without trail or sent to prison camps in remote areas in Russia.
