Individual Case Study: Propmore Case Discussion Points 1. There are three primary characters in this case. The first is Don Bradford, purchasing manager for Propmore Corporation. The second is Jane Thompson, a buyer for Propmore Corporation. The third is Bill Smith 2. Propmore Corporation is a company that makes several key components for the aerospace and consumer goods market. Propmore was financially successful with sales of about $500 million. It was a leader in its field. The company treated its people well. The company was very decentralized with decision making capabilities at the divisional level. 3. Don Bradford is the Divisional Purchasing Manager at Propmore. He is a very qualified individual. Don received a B.S. in engineering and had three years experience in the aerospace industry as a design engineer. He then received a MBA and went to work for Propmore, rising through the ranks very quickly in the Purchasing Department. 4. Mr. Bradford seems to be a great manager. He is a very involved hard working manager who cares for his company and his co-worker. He maintains good relationships with his superiors and those he manages. He surrounds himself with qualified people to give him solid technical advice. He also has built a good deal of trust with those around him. He was able to handle the resentment of those passed over by his promotion to manager. 5. Jane Thompson claims to have been sexually harassed at a business luncheon by Bill Smith. She threatens to take legal action against Mr. Smith as well as Propmore for not protecting her against such actions. It Mr. Bradford’s job to investigate the situation and decided what action to take. Sexual harassment is against the law and against Propmore’s Corporate Policy. The problem is the person in question is not an employee of Propmore or did the incident take place at Propmore. Situation
