Another idea related to this is the idea of predestination which was the view of the philosopher- John Calvin. Predestination is the idea that our lives are set/planned out previous to the start of our lives. Calvin said that man is “inherently evil and is not capable of good as his free will chooses to reject God”. Therefore, this suggests that God has predestined our lives as to those who will be saved and who will not. This further reinforces that we have no choice or influence on our lives and the events that happen, so therefore God will know the ethical decisions we will make as he has already predestined them in our lives.

Offenders can be a combination of any of these three classifications. However, there is an issue with blanket statements because each hate is an individual case, as every individual has had a different life and different incentives. Ironically enough, the most severe Offenders of “hate crime” are victims themselves. Sullivan comes to the conclusion that hate crime is an unnecessary classification under “crime’ and shouldn’t carry a different sentence than crime itself. He ends with a general statement that hate can only be overcome by the success of the victims, and their being unaffected by “ignoring the bigot’s

Desmond LeSure Professor Bolton ENGL 1020 19 April 2012 “Is the Three-Strikes Law fair and ethical?” There are individuals who were known as habitual criminals who constantly repeated the cycle of committing a crime, getting arrested, and eventually getting released. In 1993, Americans noticed that this was very costly to the public because the process of arresting and trying these criminals was expensive. American tax payers were beginning to become concerned with this issue and wanted something to be done about habitual offenders. Society is pushing the issue that it was more logical to keep repeat criminals in jail and not release them to commit more crimes. Politicians listened to society and executed a law that would put an end to
Outline and critically evaluate ONE of the theoretical approaches as it applies to 3 different advertisements/commercials of your choice Introduction For the past three decades, various studies have examined how consumer’s evaluation of issues and products are exaggerated by media advertisement. This phenomenon has generated huge interests within the field of advertising and also in academia. As suggested by Ewen (2008, p.39), “advertising helps to keep the masses dissatisfied with their mode of life, disconnected with ugly things around them”. This statement suggested that advertisement was designed to create attitude change to certain product. Using the gender theoretical approach, this essay will seek to outline and critically evaluate the advertisement approaches in three different advertisement/commercials using Goffman’s (1979) analysis of gender portrayer in magazine and television advert as the conceptual framework in the essay .
