An advantage of a comprehensive school is that they are often the closest school to where students live and some comprehensives get very good exam results. Another type of school that a child can go to is a private school. A private school is a school supported by a private organisation or private individuals rather than by the state. Attending a private school may improve your results because overall you get a better education and this can help with possible jobs in the future. A disadvantage of going to a private school might be that sometimes students are isolated from other social challenges.
Fortunately not all the best teachers work in private education. So paying for education does not always give you a better chance of learning. Education is not all about cramming children with facts and dates, foreign languages and scientific equations; it is also about preparing the child for life. Students in paying education are often segregated from the ‘real’ world and can find it harder to progress in life once their education has finished as they have mostly been protected and cosseted within their own social class system. Most parents want a good education for their children and to give them the best start in life but not all parents have the income required to pay the sometimes astronomical school fees.
Children coming from little advantage miss out on an amount of things. One being education, coming from a low income schooling system that means that the education is not always up to par. Children that attend these schools will not be academically prepared for college if they do not have the skills they need. Coming from a low income schooling system where there are not enough books to go around and things of that matter are sometimes not skillfully prepared for furthering their education. Children are hindered by these kinds of schools, teachers and peers lay a big role in the children’s lives.
The only negative I see in the self-contained setting is the fact that the kids are sometimes cut off from the general education students. Socializing and interacting with other students is very important during a student’s educational experience. This is the time where kids learn to be tolerant of other people’s differences and learn to work with others. The inclusive classroom to me should only be prescribed on a case by case basis. I feel it is a good idea in theory but in some cases it is just not a reasonable solution to me.
Not every parent has the financial Stability to send their kids to schools with great education programs, as shown in waiting for Superman. So why should the innocent children be the ones being punished for something they Have no control over? By having more well educated people in the world it will make the environment a better place. The future needs to be thought about while changes and problems are being addressed. The school board and the people within the school systems need to have more caring feelings about those students who are being left behind.
Public school students have diverse classmates and they have many other teachers. Another difference is students learning experience can be very different in each environment. A parent that homeschools their child can customize their teaching style to their child’s learning style. Their child can learn much faster this way. However, if the child decided to attend public school or college they may have a hard time adjusting to other teaching styles.
Most complaints to this degree is one of two things: the cost of the child actually going to school and getting the education, or the cost of the programs that have to be put in place to accommodate these children. For the cost of the student, this typically is not very high. Poor Mexican families tend to live in the small, poorer parts of town. This means, in turn, that they are more than likely also attending a school that is lower in quality and price (Martinez 5). While most complain about the bilingual programs being put into school, we have to think about the benefit of this as well.
There are two main types of experiments: laboratory and field experiments, both of which have advantages and disadvantages. Sociologists rarely use lab experiments, however, because they are concerned with physical things rather than social issues such as education. As Item A mentions research has found that teachers sometimes label pupils unfairly which can affect pupil’s self-esteem, and as a result, educational results. This process is known as labelling. One practical advantage of using experiments in a school would be that if using a field experiment which has the advantage of being more natural than a lab experiment, the teachers might act naturally towards the pupil as they wouldn’t know what was happening.
How does money affect a person’s intelligence? If a family is fairly wealthy, they are more likely to be able to sufficiently fund resources and materials to help their child’s education, for example; being able to afford their child to have a placement at a private school. Although the teaching standards at a public school may be just as high as the teaching standards at a private school, private schools also tend to enforce stricter rules, which therefore means that those who have a low attendance or a poor behaviour, are less likely to be allowed to educate there, and the school may only allow students that are focused on their education. Also, upper class and middle class students may perform better because things such as educational trips or text books can easily be paid for. Those students that are of working class or lower class may not perform as well in exams as those that are in middle and upper classes as they may not have sufficient funds to pay for things such as educational trips and text books.
Unlike public schools, charter schools allow parents to become more involved with their children’s school environment, teachings, and progress. One of their main goals is to improve the education system. But, a negative aspect of being a charter school is that the schools must meet their required goals, and have the possibility of closing if unattained. This is why some parents have a tough time deciding whether or not their children should attend charter schools because they have the potential to close if goals aren’t met. In relation to expenditures, charter schools are funded through sponsors and grants (Vann 1).
