Every care worker has a duty of care, Duty of care means making sure that every individual in there care is safe from harm. This means safe from abuse and neglect also. Duty of care also means that all needs of the individual are being met this includes • personal hygiene • Food and water • Entertainment • Social needs • Medication. Employers also have a duty of care too, Their duty of care is to make sure that all of their employees have and safe and healthy working environment. How duty of care affects social care workers? Duty of care can affect social care workers because they have to maintain a high level of care. This is done by following policy and procedures, Being able to recognise dangers and risk withing the work setting. Attending training sessions when available. Duty of care affects social care workers by ensuring that every care setting is safe for the individuals using the setting and the staff working there. What having a duty of care means for a caregiving organisation? Having a duty of care in caregiving means the setting is a safe environment for both individuals and staff members. It is a safe working environment because codes of practice, policy and procedures are being followed. This means that chemicals are stored correctly, training is in place when needed, equipment is testing regularly and individuals needs are being met.
