Crisp Project Case Study Preliminary Risk Assessment Report February 2014 Katharina Langheinrich Summary of Findings: RainForest Corporation (RFC) is currently in the midst of implementing the Crisp project. This project will help RFC step into the grocery delivery industry. This will ultimately help RFC with its long-term strategic goal of becoming a single-source solution for consumers. The audit team has reviewed the feasibility study of the Crisp project and has found two risks that could result in a set back of the project if not dealt with. The first risk, assessed during the project manager interview, is that the current tags and handheld scanners currently used in the OFFIS system will not work for refrigerated and frozen foods. The appropriate hardware and software is not ready and available for refrigerated fresh foods, frozen foods, non-perishable foods, and for packaging sizes and shapes. A new inventory system needs to be created to work with the existing software and hardware of RFC. The second risk was also made aware of during the interview with the project manager. This risk entails that the Crisp Project’s assigned leader is not experienced for their current managerial position. This will result to turbulence for the project. A new project leader needs to be hired as a result, or the current one needs to be trained to lead the Crisp project. The continuation of the report will explain the two risks in more detail assessing the level of the risk, the observation, additional facts, the impact on the project, and recommendations for how to address these two risks.
