The political frame makes an organization competitive. It is a frame that places great emphasis on having power and winning. Although the political frame has the potential to be toxic in the field of education, it also has the potential of playing a positive role when the power is properly disbursed amongst individuals. The leaders are the ones who have the ultimate say in how things will run. While the symbolic frame provides a sense of community, it can also cause tension when new members are brought into a team of veteran teachers. These new teachers must learn how to function within this frame and if they have any new ideas to share concerning the symbolic frame, veteran members may appear hesitant. What were the most valuable elements you learned from the Politcal Frame Wiki? How can you apply what you have learned? One of the most valuable elements that I learned from the Political Frame Wiki is that each of the key players play a significant role in the political frame. Key players can include counselors, teachers and even janitors. What is important is that each key player is given an opportunity to utilize their strengths to provide students with an optimal learning experience so that they may fare as adults in the real world. Any person that contributes to the well­being of the students and the school as a whole are key players. The key players play various roles at different times and deal with specific concerns, but together they create an environment that is conducive to learning. (Kendra Kelly) According to Boman and Deal (2010), the interests of the key players are very diverse due to the diverse values, backgrounds, beliefs and agendas (Bolman & Deal, 2010.) The interest of key players will also differ due to position and area of expertise. (Kendra Kelly) Players can have varying degrees of power within the political frame. The degree of power may depend on the persons status/or position but with the right amount of advocating and negotiating, players may find that they have more power than they realized.
