Task (A) Table 1 Physical Development Age Range | Explanation of sequence and rate of development | 0-3 Months | During birth to 1 month old the child is able to lie on its back with head to one side but is unable to hold head up by its self. Between 1 – 3 months the child is now able to grasp objects when they touch the palm of the hands, stretches legs out and kicks when lying on front or back, by 3 months the child is able to bring hands to its mouth. | 3-6 Months | When the child reaches 3 months it is able to lift head and turn when on front as well as being able to hold a rattle for a few seconds when placed in hand. 1-2 months old the child begins to stare at soft light and gazes at a dangling ball. | 3-6 Months | At 3 months a child can now follow movements of large / small objects and takes an increasing interest in their surroundings, during this age they are able to smile in response to speech and show more interest in playthings, they can now also cry louder when expressing needs. | 6-9 Months | During this age group a child now begins to understand the meaning of words like bye bye, mama or dada, they are easily distracted by movement and puts everything in their mouth. Also at this age they turn immediately when they hear the mothers or main carers voice at a distance, talk to themselves in a tuneful sing song voice and at times squeal with delight. | 9-12 Months | At this stage a child is now able to judge the size of an object up to 2 feet away and is able to look in the right direction for falling toys. They can also recognise familiar pictures, enjoy communication with sound and can now finally understand and obey the word “No” at this stage.…show more content…
Another way is the use of a reward chart, this would be set up with the young person, key worker and house manager, the young person would work on set daily achievable targets, such as no swearing, if this was met the young person would be rewarded with a tick, after an agreed amount of time, if the young person had met the target that was set the young person would then receive the reward that was
