I work two jobs and maintain my financial responsibility. My big payback is the government’s bad decision indirectly affecting my income. A more fair use of the $700 billion plan would have been to let those who took out loans known to be too much and the institutions that created the loan swim or sink. Then disperse the $700 billion to consumers like me who maintain our responsibility. I could certainly use a portion of the money and would most certainly spend it frivolously.
This just makes the case against her that she gives herself no credibility and she expects the audience to just believe what she says. Just think if Astyk did provide where she got her facts from, she would actually have some creditability that would help her out in this essay. Astyk takes a paragraph from Jeremy Seabrook’s book The No-Nonsense Guide to World Poverty that believes the way to help the poor nations feed themselves is to make the rich people richer because it will make the poor richer. The question I have is, how will making the rich richer make the poor richer? This question could have been avoided if she would have explained herself more instead of just leaving us to assume her so called plan.
I would recommend that CCL make the above changes immediately so that the financail statements are not incorrect. These changes would help CCL reduce its future taxable income when it may be more profitable. 2. Allowance for Doubtful
He uses logos to point out our moral responsibility to make sure workers receive fair compensation and sanitary working conditions. He uses pathos when describing unsanitary conditions, child labor, and unfair worker compensation. He states his thesis in the fifth paragraph after he describes the poor working conditions created by corporations whose sole interest is increasing profits. He organizes his argument by first describing the consumers and then describing sweatshops. The main argument against increasing the wages of these workers is that it will have a negative impact on the developing world because workers will lose their jobs.
Since Shorris realizes that the rich have this unfair advantage over the poor, he decides to create a course designed for those that could not learn these humanities in private schools and expensive universities like the rich could. He hopes that in teaching the poor these concepts, the poor will prove his beliefs about the
By using a mild scare tactic to begin his argument, Pelletier not only captures his readers’ attention, but he forces them to realize what would have to be given up if we were to only eat locally. Many everyday and even essential products would be lost in some communities. If this were not reason enough to reject the locavore movement, he also gives logical reasoning as to why this idea simply would not work. The environment and economy would both experience negative effects. The change in consumption would ultimately lead to famine in many thriving nations.
In Famine, Affluence, and Morality, Singer offers two simple claims to which objections are hard to come by. He then formulates a conclusion based on the two claims, which is controversial in nature. First, death and suffering due to starvation and malnutrition are very bad; a true, uncontroversial statement. Second, if we can prevent something bad from happening without sacrificing something of equal importance then we ought to do it; again a legitimate uncontroversial statement. Finally, we ought to give a lot of our money to famine relief; here lies the issue.
Ethical considerations must be given by managers as to how the strategic plan will influence the stakeholders. The business organization’s management follows the mainstream behaviors of the society to justify their decisions on choosing their role as being ethically and socially responsible business. Many businesses in a depressed economy have to lay off their employees and close plants, these decisions are difficult to carry out because socially, it will cause hardships for employees or the community. A good example of being ethical and socially responsible business when encountering this situation is when Cisco Systems decided to lay off 6,000 full-time employees, that it acted ethically in providing a unique severance package where these employees it who agreed to work for a local nonprofit organization for a year would receive one-third of their salaries plus benefits and stock options and be the first to be rehired (Wheelen & Hunger, 2010). When investors or shareholders are demanding the business to produce profit, managers must consider how to devise steps for transparency in their strategic plans to report factual business dealings.
Why was our country so docile and accepting of such horrible food choices that were causing obesity, health issues, and in many ways contributing to the skyrocketing health care costs? I do not buy these unhealthy processed corn and soybean products and instead buy organic, whole foods. But it is expensive to make these choices, so some of this anger got projected towards Monsanto. But a good dose of it goes to the social injustice aspect of this issue: everyone should be able to afford healthy foods that do not harm your
Critics of an open border policy are concerned that health and welfare benefits would be taken advantage of by the economic migrants (Wellman 1.3). An easy solution to this problem would be to deny the newcomers these benefits until they have paid their dues through time, loyalty, and taxes. I agree with Wellman's solution of having a condition that says benefits may only be allowed for distribution once a person has lived, worked, and paid taxes for a certain number of years. To deny economic migrants benefits altogether would be unethical since they would be paying into the system, however it does not seem unreasonable to require that they earn the right to seek these benefits over time. As it is, we currently provide certain privileges to illegal immigrants through free public education for their children (due to the No Child Left Behind Act), so it makes more sense to allow the hiring of economic migrants who would be contributing government funding rather than allow the problem of illegal immigration to grow and thus continue spending money on people who make less contributions back to
