Although the act was usually but not always the choice of the woman, abortion was illegal and to end pregnancy was considered to be murder. In the two decades before abortion was legal in America, it's been estimated that about one million women per year underwent illegal abortions. Because these illegal procedures were performed by the woman or someone else who was not medically trained to perform the procedure, women died. In my opinion trying to make abortion illegal is pointless because the women will resort to drastic measures and other means to end the unwanted birth. Here we are in this so-called world of freedom but when we exercise that freedom, we become ridiculed for making a choice.
All women feel differently after an abortion. Some women may feel regret, others may feel relief, some may be happy, and others may be confused on how they feel. The way a person feels about the abortion is based on how they feel about the child growing inside of them. Some of the common emotional side effects are suicide, alcohol and drug abuse, eating disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and neglect(“Abortion Risks: a list of major psychological complications related to abortion,” par 4). All of these are very serious side effects that can happen to anyone.
Women across the country who must go through the traumatizing horrors of abortion are often categorized as shameful. They are judged enough already and certainly don’t deserve to bear the burden of ugly legislation. Planned Parenthood is an organization who supports women’s rights and is in disagreement with the things that they must put women through because of these regulations. A recent bill in Texas called the “Women’s Right to Know Act” was passed and requires women to make at least two visits to the abortion clinic before the
The bible does not say anything about abortion but has something that sounds like they are talking about abortion. Exodus reads “When people who are fighting injure a pregnant woman so that there is a miscarriage, and yet no further harm follows, the one responsible shall be fined what the woman's husband demands, paying as much as the judges determine”( Exodus, 21:22). I’m pretty sure that the bible says a lot more stuff that sounds like they are talking about abortion. When the quality of life is on the line, ending a painful life or ending what will be painfull in the future. They abortion should remain legal for everyone to have a chance to have a favorable
The relgious aspects of abortion do not go along with Pro-Choice. Religons like Catholics or Protestants believe that a fetus is a person from conception (West Encyclopedia of American Law 3). So to them abortion goes against the Sixth Commandment of the Bible, "Thou shalt not kill" (ProCon 2). Many people do not agree with late term abortions, such as in the second and third trimester, made by reasons of convenience (Saad 1). By this time the baby can surely feel pain.
It is done by dilating the women and giving her medicine to start labor, Once labor has started the baby is delivered and the doctor suctions the brains out and the baby’s skull collapse. There are many reasons why abortions are a negative thing. One is that it ends a life of a living thing. Two it is extremely bad on a women’s body and has many things that could go wrong or long term effects. It has been found that there are many emotional aspects of an abortion that can psychologically affect the wellbeing of the women.
These are all reason that could be avoided, and save many lives in the early stages. One controversial reason a woman might have an abortion is if she has been raped. There are very few cases like this, and in the instance of pregnancy resulting from rape, Linda Lowen informs us “proper medical care can ensure that a woman will not get pregnant” (Abortion Arguments). Overall, the most common reason for having an abortion is that “over 95 percent… [are] women who simply do not want to have a baby” (Abortion is Murder). Women who get pregnant and are not ready to accept the responsibility should not let this result in the death of a human
Pope John Paul II described abortion as a sign of “encroaching culture of death that threatens human dignity and freedom” (Zastrwon & Kirst-Ashman, 2013). Abortion is worse than ordinary murder, principally, because it involves the betrayal of a dependent by a natural guardian (Stith, 2009). An example of religion being a bias in society involves a Catholic University. Marquette University has formally decided to decline an abortion rights group on campus, though they do sanction an anti-abortion group. Catholics for a Free Choice contended that they should be allowed to add another voice, but the school has chosen to stick to religious and moral beliefs and deny the group opportunity.
The side affects, whether it be emotional or physical, are too much for someone to bare. While some women do over come the emotional idea of killing a fetus, it will liger for a lifetime. Not knowing what the child looked like, or how they would have impacted a life is devastating to most. No one will know how great of a person that child would grow up to be. There are lots of opinions about abortion, and most are not 100 percent for or against the idea.
One of the most ethical controversial issues being debated now in United States is whether late- term abortion should be banned or not. Most people argued that it is proper to ban late-term abortion. They believe that it is un-ethical and a murder of an unborn child not a right of freedom of choice. It is an immoral act and violates the social and religious norms. On the other hand some people argued that late-term abortion should not be banned because it is necessary to terminate a fetus when the life of the woman is in danger as a result of complicated pregnancy; or when pregnancy result from incest or rape and the woman may be late in finding out that she is pregnant.
