Some chapters that really spoke to me would be the chapters on time management, getting good grades, and working towards success. I really paid attention to the time management section the most. Since I really like to be active and busy all the time, I tend to bite off more than I can chew. I need to find a happy medium between working and playing. I am going to use some techniques described in this section such as scheduling early classes, studying in between classes and when I am studying, actually focusing.
I think it will be better for me so that I won’t get confused by switching to a different learning style. This will be a better feel for the differences between the other styles of learning. Sometimes when I have to learn with other styles it’s a huge challenge for me because I have to focus on it so much to where I always end up saying “screw this, I’m done” and put it aside until the last minute then I realize that the assignment is due the next day and I still end up putting it aside. One of my big weaknesses that I run into a lot tends to be the most used learning style with most colleges. That weakness of mine is reading.
An active learner is one who understands new information by doing something with it, and they strive to take a greater responsibility for their own learning, and they take advantage of extra credit opportunities. This fits my learning style very much so. When I am learning something I take what I learn and apply to my homework in that specific subject or use it in other subjects. Also I take responsibility for my own learning by going to get help on what I do not understand, and I always jump at the extra credit when it is available. An intuitive learner is one who prefers to take information in an abstract form such as ideas, images or ideas.
I know that with myself, I go past y old limitations on a regular basis. I am always pushing myself to a point where I am better than I was the day before. I have reached an understanding that my strengths and limitations are completely dependent on my will push to be better. These two subjects are reliant only a particular person’s drive to succeed. For example, my weakness is English in school, but I am getting stronger at it because I push myself through limitations rather than give up when I have reached my limit.
It is better to try and fail then to never try at all. I think that this quote means that sometimes in life we have to try things several times before we actually succeed, you might feel humiliated and just want to give up but you don’t you just keep trying. It might not come to you in a day maybe not even a week but eventually if you just keep trying you will succeed, and when you finally do succeed you appreciate success much more than if it had come so easily. I have had to try things over and over before I got it right. For example, math is very hard for me, I need lots of help, so when I am doing math homework I have to always double check my work and when I can look in the back of the book to see if Im correct it helps and I feel really good when I get the correct answer, also when I am at cheer I practice my tumbling, and when I finally land it properly after many attempts it makes me feel so happy and it feels really good to know that I didn't give up, even though it took me many try’s.
With each of these note taking methods have their own distinct advantages and disadvantages, once again using the correct tool for the job at hand. With many, many more being available to you to use at your own discretion. Including the PQRST method (Preview, Question, Read, Summary, Test), The Method of Loci, and The Leitner Method. With those being examples we won't be going into in this presentation/essay. I always recommend finding the method that best suits you and your study style, while always remembering to space your studying
He found his passion through his addiction to filmmaking, but it came at a price of making poor grades in school. In other situations students are multi-tasking with technology because of their addiction. While doing homework or writing an essay the students are being distracted by listening to music, texting, and watching television. In my personal experience with this I also get very distracted and sidetracked and cannot keep focused on what I’m supposed to be doing. I end up forgetting I have homework and not coming back to it later that night or the next morning to finish it.
We sat down and worked out a solution we ordered a new computer, we only hope this helps us get more college work done and in a timely manner leaving us with less stress. Loosing days at work to go to school has put a huge struggle on me even though I know school is important. But having less money come in is a huge stressor that I have not found a way to deal with except telling myself that after I get an education I will get a better job. After sitting down and thinking very hard about this I have developed my action plan. One big thing that seems to help people deal with stress is going to the gym.
All I want in life is too be successful. In order to be successful I must do a lot of things to better my life. My success plan starts off with school. I must always go to school prepared. This means remembering to do my homework, bring all my supplies, and get a good night’s sleep.
In the end, being able to face my fears head on, I was able to be alone with just my children and I in our own place. It has forced me to be successful in making my own decisions and become confident in them. My success is that I can go to school now, work a part-time job, have help at home with our children and the household duties. It may not seem like much to most but to me overcoming the small fears have led me to believe that I can overcome any obstacle that comes our way, together, as a team. Yes, I went through a difficult divorce at a hard time in life.
