I’m not going to lie I was nervous; I had no idea what was in-store for me. Jump school consists of three weeks: Ground week, Tower week and Jump week. On 18 October 2008 a Friday night I Left Fort Leanordwood Missouri a young 18 year old Soldier headed to FT. Benning GA for JUMP SCHOOL. Just completing basic training and advanced individual training I was thin, weighed about 160 at 5’11’’ that’s not much, not an ounce of fat on my body (from being starved for 22 weeks), but I was ripped and I knew I could handle the task in front of me. That night we arrived at Benning after 14 long, grueling hours on a greyhound bus.
I had never been so happy. My dad had gotten home just in time for the 4th of July for God’s sake. The most incredible person to ever grace my presence came home after two years away, doing “army stuff.” Not to mention, I got to tell my friends that MY dad and his best friend were the ones that got to set off the fireworks, so you could call me the coolest kid in town if you wanted. I remember going crazy when my mom told me that, thinking he had done something really special to get that honor, comparable to my dad being awarded the key to the city or something. All the other kids were pretty impressed so I couldn’t have been too misled.
My First Night of Basic Training Throughout my adolescent years I was very unsure of the path would take after high school. I had many careers in mind, but collage did not seem like something I wanted to do right away. Shortly after graduating from high school I decided to join the U.S. Air Force. In this paper I will discuss my experiences during the first night of basic training. On April 13th 2004 I left my Family and small hometown in western New York to join the Air Force.
They desert Everyman at that point. He calls upon people who are closer to him, Kindred and Cousin, his kinsmen. They also promise to “live and die together,” but, when asked to accompany Everyman, they remind of the things he never did for them and desert him. Everyman then calls upon Goods, his material possessions. Goods explains to him that they cannot go on the journey with him, so he is once again deserted.
Vacations, business trips, family gatherings, all the usual purposes for air travel. But this day was different for him. He was alone and nervous, the following 9 weeks weighed heavy on his mind. Not only was he flying through terminals in places he had never been alone, but he had a destination much different than the rest. You see he had recently raised his right hand and enlisted in the United States Army.
Essay When I was in high school, I belonged to Army JROTC, and I was the first sergeant of my company. I led the drills, called cadence, conducted inspections, and I was up for promotion to captain the following school year, but unfortunately my schedule conflicted with other courses that I needed for college, and I was unable to continue in the program. However, Army JROTC was the first course that I ever took that gave me a sense of accomplishment, confidence in myself, and pride in the feeling that comes from being able to set goals, achieving them, and earning the respect of your peers while at the same time doing something in pursuance of a noble cause. I set a goal for myself to go to college and satisfy my educational objectives to prepare myself, so that one day I could prove worthy of becoming a leader in the United States Army. My life experiences and my strong desire to succeed coupled with an unrelenting work ethic and a strong sense of duty and commitment to my country, make me an excellent candidate for officership in the United States Army.
I was now put in a situation to where I had to tell my siblings and other family that he was not going to make it. It was alot to handle and while trying to take care of my children. I was always hoping that I was making the right decissons. The next devastating event in my life was just a year after losing my father. I lost my job.
If your life was in jeopardy, every day is you telling me. You wouldn't need weaponry just because of your felony. Consider this at least, I got everybody sweating me. On the streets is people who won't rest unless I rest in peace. Killed my folk a year ago, still in Robinson 2 my sleep they threaten me.
Steve Pelon Clint Hale 101 English Composition (03) 14 January 2012 Narrative Topic Formation: The Last Days Spent With My Father The day of September 3, 2010, my father went ill and near death. No one could give or define a proper diagnosis; playing phone tree with family and doctors was failing fast. Questions asked continued to go unanswered, how did this happen, what was the cause, and most importantly what would be the outcome? His blood was being poisoned by something within his own body. What was attempting to take his life?
He did not call 911 until Logan’s father arrived at home three and a half hours later. He did not have the courtesy to call either one of the parents. Logan was suffering from lack of oxygen; this was the start of his situation. When his father called 911, they took him to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center and they medevac’d him to Johns Hopkins Medical Center where he was admitted into the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. He was then diagnosed with severe brain damage.
