Being captain of my senior year was the biggest accomplishment I have ever made. Having the chance to stand front and center gave me chills each and every time. Although knowing every move and cheer is required when being a cheerleader, that does not mean that you need to be perfect. As long as you are in sync with your team and you have a smile on your face that's all that matters. That's where people get on my nerves, they think all that cheering involves being the best and most pretty person who dates the caption of the football team.
One of my strengths includes leading by example and earning the respect and loyalty of my team members. Assigned goals are achieved by employees who match the same efforts demonstrated by their fearless leader. Every team member is treated with respect and is a valued team player. This type of management style boosts confidence and increases the drive to succeed. Team members are eager to satisfy assigned tasks given from a leader who supports and assists their efforts.
They have committed to be on their side from beginning to end. Some students think of cheerleader’s as mean nasty girl or in some cases some kind of fantasy for some pervert thanks to the way they are portrayed in movies. Others think they are so pretty, athletic, and nice. Either way you take them for they always come out to be the most popular girls in school that everybody wants to be friends with or even
Cheerleading is often thought of as a sport only for high school and college athletes as well. The risk of getting an injury in competitive cheerleading is very high, but there are also very many safety tips to help reduce injuries. Such as, equipment, fitness, spotters, and coaches. Using a mat when you cheer or stunt is recommended so if a flyer falls they won’t hit hard floor. Fitness is very important in cheerleading.
Going into the gym, I was greeted by so many new and inviting faces all welcoming me onto the cheer team. We started off by doing stretches and some basic exercise games to get the kids motivated and ready. It was at that moment that I knew I wanted to be a part of this and I was going to do anything I could to continue working with the kids, and help them win. They deserved it. A few practices in, and only a few more to go, the routine was coming together and I was really proud of all the hard work and dedication that these kids had put into their cheer routine.
This ability to adapt to adverse situations is something I hope to carry with me life long. It is hard for me to sit and watch my team play without me, but in order to be a good teammate I stay and cheer them on. Being a good teammate is one aspect I am proud to say I acquired over the years. Whenever someone makes an error I cheer them up and tell them to keep their head up. Being a good teammate is one of the reasons I have always been appointed captain of any team.
Next year I know I will miss the comforting feeling I receive when I walk into her classroom. It was an absolute honor to learn and work with Mrs. Perkins. No words can express how grateful I am for all of her hard work and effort. A good teacher is one that helps students to understand difficult concepts, but Mrs. Perkins is a great educator that not only motivates teenagers, but sincerely cares for and helps each of her students. Because of her, I am now able to thoroughly enjoy and understand music.
The office of student development is supportive, caring, and full of energy. Because of them I have decided to go into the field of Student Affairs. The office of student development has an extremely unique staff that I would have no idea what I would do without any of them. The first person I met in student development was frank, he automatically become a role model to me. frank is the one who helped me decide to get involved into the school because of how supportive he was.
I got a tattoo. The satisfaction I get from it now feels wonderful. It is so amazing to know that I finally have the tattoo I wanted. My mom says that I should be proud because there are many people who are too scared or cannot handle the pain of getting a tattoo. I will have to say that I am proud of myself and am really happy with the way my tattoo turned out.
Being an aunt is a great responsibility and brings much joy to my life. Takalah has taught me that life is what you make it; she has taught me patience, tolerance, and given me the ability to open my heart. This event was a very life changing experience that affected many different aspects of my life. I didn’t expect for this to alter my personality or life goals. My goals which are now set farther and I have more determination to succeed.
