Children who have suffered a brain injury may show some behaviour similar to those of ADHD. However, only a small percentage of children with ADHD have suffered a brain injury. P3 Additional help that someone with ADHD may need is guidance and understanding from their parents and teachers to reach their full potential and to succeed in school. Before a child is diagnosed, frustration, blame, and anger may have built up within the family. Parents and children may need help to overcome the bad feelings.
Also how the alcoholic home has affects extended family members that are not in the home. The extended family members sometimes are forced to sit back and watch the dysfunction often not being able to do anything. I think it’s important to recognize that the extended family members also feel hopeless and confused. Using this information along with my own experiences as an adult child will help me to understand better how others deal with their childhoods. It is also important to know for prevention as well.
They may say they hear voices telling them what to do. Schizophrenia is one type of psychosis, it is a lack of insight, and they hallucinate, and have feelings of persecution. They may have suffered damage to their personalities as a child, which makes them powerless to control their impulses. They go with their need without thinking about if it’s right or wrong or the
Personal Model of Helping Akia Forward BSHS/311 December 6, 2012 Gerry MC Farland Personal Model of Helping To make a difference as a Clinician, one must create a personal model of helping. Doing research and understanding the material available is an important part of developing a model of helping that will do some good. My personal model of helping will include parts of two Cognitive Child Development theories, Three Behavioral Child Development theories, Erik Erikson’s Theory of Personality Development, Lawrence Kohlberg’s Theory on Child Development, Alfred Adler’s theory and practices, Strategic therapy, Experiential Family therapy, and a Faith-Based Therapeutic therapy. I will also explain why I chose each theory, advantages and disadvantages of each theory, multicultural ramifications, positives and negatives of my model, and the people my model can help. The two models of helping I will start with are Jean Piaget’s Cognitive Child Development Theory and Lev Vygotsky’s Social Development Theory.
In a care home setting it may be hard to communicate with residents that have dementia, this is because they forget things, get upset and in the last stages of dementia, they can become violent. This can influence the communication method between you and the resident, as they may not understand what you are trying to explain, also if they are upset it can be confusing and stressful for them. It will affect the conversation because they will be agitated and wont listen to what you have got to say. Another example is in a special school for people with learning disorders. People who have learning disorders may have problems with reading and writing, this will affect the communication barrier as they cant show how they feel through writing and drawing.
They may have feelings of loss or guilt about the father not being in the home. The child may feel responsible for the parent’s leaving the home. Children sometimes accept blame for things going wrong at home when they really should not. While researching the literature on children from single-parent homes and juvenile delinquency some of the same factors presented regarding delinquent behavior. The literature also reports that without stability in their lives these children are at risk to be victims as well as perpetrators of violence.
In a social care setting a young offender who is at an institution may want their time to there to be reduced, but because there behaviour is uncontrollable then that maybe be difficult, but if the young offender finds a way to improve his/her behaviour then there social carer and police officer would probably reduce their time at the institution depending they actually make positive changes in their behaviour. The humanistic is a term in the psychology that finds out the uniqueness of each and every individual. The perspective is known for identifying the way a person behaves, this is not only through the eyes of the observer, but through the eyes the person who is behaving in the way they are. In health setting a councillor maybe be having an appointment with an individual who maybe be finding it hard to accept themselves for who they are for instance they maybe be obese and because of this it causes them to get bullied and insulted by those around , which m result to them having a very low self-esteem. On the other for this change into
When the prisoner is released, they may be very angry about the lack of attention they recieved, and become a repeat offender. Rehab gives one a chance to learn about his/her debilitating problems and offers to help them change. It also helps to ease the offender’s reentry into society. Juvenile offenders should be especially considered for rehab because they are young and deserve second chances. They aren’t fully
What causes dissociative identity disorder? While there is no proven specific cause of DID, the prevailing psychological theory about how the condition develops is as a reaction to childhood trauma. Specifically, it is thought that one way that some individuals respond to being severely traumatized as a young child is to wall off, in other words, to dissociate those memories. When that reaction becomes extreme, DID may be the result. As with other mental disorders, having a family member with DID may indicate a potential vulnerability to developing the disorder but does not translate into the condition being literally hereditary.
Medication is doing us harm by masking the pain of depression, and not teaching children self-control on their own. She makes effective points about how medication is changing the way our brain acts. In my opinion, I think most medication is not necessary; it’s not something that should be given to a child. How are children going to grow up and figure life out the right way? I believe when they are on it too long, the brain develops wrong and can cripple them mentally in the long run.
