I chose to be a Medial Assistant for many different reasons. The first reason that comes to my head is that I love to help people. The profession also got my interest because I am a nosey person; I like to know what happens to people. I personally love to help people. No matter the situation, if I help someone, I somehow made their life just a little bit easier.
I would also establish a system whereby my students complete a record card or form detailing name, contact information and any other relevant information such as medical needs. Regulations out of the way, personalities are important. I believe that if I am friendly, my learners will relax and know they can feel secure in my class when it starts. Nobody likes to learn with a grumpy teacher. I will always do a fun warm up which helps break the ice.
You can use constructive feed back to build on use it as a tool not a negative. Work as part of a team; keep calm listen and respect, the people you are working with. Your past experiences can also help, and using your own initiative being positive. Appraisals are good way to receive constructive feedback, this will show your strengths and weakness, you might need more training on your moving and handling as you are not using the equipment properly. I receive positive feedback from my manager, she had over heard me talking to a service user who was being challenging with me, she explained she was very happy with the way I dealt with the situation calmed things down before they became worst.

It is also important that I speak slowly and clearly, using terminology that is at a level the individual can understand. If I raise my voice when speaking it could cause an individual to become upset or agitated. This could result in them losing confidence in my ability to help them with their daily life. Prejudice was a good topic to talk about and to be recognized, and Battle Royal fit the toll perfectly. I had the idea of prejudice, but I was able to elaborate on it more with the help of my classmates and professor. I would also like to acknowledge and thank my friend Christopher Martin for reading over my paper and giving helpful insights. I always find that a peer knows how to understand what one is trying to say or help to make sense of it. He offered a lot of help and was willing to make notes on my paper to attempt at helping me make my paper the best it could possibly be.
When I first began working in the care setting, I was shadowing another carer. I was doing things that I’d never done before and I was very anxious about getting things wrong. Receiving both positive and negative feedback was extremely helpful, as I was able to see what I was doing correctly and what I was doing incorrectly. Also, I do lots of activities in the residential home. The first time I did an activity I was observed and given tips on how to effectively communicate with residents, which made activities run a lot smoother.
