Grace Schmid Mrs. Johnson ENG 1010-102627 9/25/12-10/9/12 WA Cause and Effect Osama Bin Laden’s Existence Throughout history we can name a lot of famous or infamous people that have impacted the world in many different ways, good or bad. In this case Bin Laden’s effect on America has been a catastrophe. We all ask questions on why, who, and how could this have happened? Why is it that a man so immoral had many people following him? Let’s take a look into the actual effects of Bin Laden. Osama Bin Laden was born in Saudi Arabia in 1957. Bin Laden was a Muslim all his life. Bin Laden had five wives that we know of and is thought to have around 20 kids. Bin Laden is both important as a historical event and a current event. He was the leader of Al Qaeda which led to 9/11. He was captured and killed recently in May 2, 2011. All of America will forever remember this man because he impacted just about everyone in America. The effects seem to always come back to 9/11. Nineteen hijackers flew a total of four planes into the two Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and in a Pennsylvania field. Overall, the September 11 attack resulted in 2,996 casualties. This took a lot investigating, finally realizing Bin Laden had been hiding out in a compound 35 miles away from the Pakistani capital. This current event has given Americans closure and continues to help our national security. This doesn’t mean that the war is over. There are still terrorists. It means that we leave Al Qaeda without their original leader and it makes them weaker. We also captured and killed the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks and other previous events.
