I would assist the residents in personal care, this can include washing, dressing, toilet need and eating. I would also respond to any calls made from the residents to me in an efficient manner. Any incidents or unexplained injuries that may happen I would report to the nurse or manager in charge. I would ensure that the residents would be presentable in their appearance at all times.
The matter will then be discussed with the care team and medical staff involved with the individual’s care. I’m in the best position to notice how well a person is eating or if they are refusing foods listed in their care plan. By discussing with other members of the team and making them aware of the problems you will be able to accommodate their needs in the future

In recognising our client’s right to have a choice in the food they eat we should ensure our clients maintain as an individual, and we should promote a positive mental health to our clients.

Being able to communicate well is at the upmost importance within my job role. The need to be clear and concise and using correct terminology social workers, doctors, health professionals, colleagues and managers is vital for open lines of communication. In retrospect it’s equally important that I understand what is being communicated to myself by these health care professionals using medical terminology, for example to ask ‘what does that mean’ if the terms are unfamiliar, the ability to listen, retain and respond appropriately to the information received. Using all of these different ways of communication, aids me to develop effective relationships within my working environment.

Related to health and social Argyle’s communication cycle theoryis used in health and care, as communicationskills are highly important in a health and social setting. The communication cycle is a process of sending and receiving messages between people. It is also about how the health and social worker decides how to deliver the message across. Through these skills, patients can be able to build relationships with health and social professionals and health and social care professionals with colleagues and also patients.
