The neonatal nurses work for three different levels- first level; they take care of the healthy newborn babies, in the second level; they cater to the needs of the ill newborns or premature birth, third level; they work for the newborns with problems which cannot be treated or cured in the first two levels. They mainly consist of their important contribution in dealing with cases wherein newborn babies have serious problems. The nurses also guide and solve all the queries of the newborns health and well-being of the child. You will work very closely with parents. Neonatal nurses monitor vital signs such as respiration and tempter, and perform any specialized feeding such as intravenous or tube feeding.
Neonatal nurses have to deal with cases wherein newborn babies have serious problems like respiratory disorders or low weight at birth. These nurses also guide and solve all the queries of the parent of the newborn child health and well being. A neonatal nurse has to adapt and act quickly to tackle the difficult situation and have a good communication skills and presence of mind which are useful for conveying the right information related to the health issues. I selected this field because I love interacting and being around babies. I wouldn’t mind being around them all day and helping them prepare to leave the hospital into this cold world we have.
Transitioning from the role of senior nursing student to registered nurse, with new workplace expectations and professional accountability has become a reality shock for most NGN. This paper examines the importance of adequate orientation time to help facilitate the transition from NGN to the registered nurse role, and how it benefits not only the NGN but also health care organizations hiring NGN. Preparation for transitioning from NGN to competent RN should begin during the last year of nursing school. According to Hatler, Stoffers, Kelly, Redding and Carr (2011) Nursing school faculty need to develop ways to more accurately shape students expectations and skill regarding their abilities and to provide time and guidance for discussion and reflection related to the often overwhelming aspects of actually working as a nurse. Experiences in the workplace often prompt different priorities
Cultural Diversity in Child Bearing Practices around the World Nursing 8/1/2013 Abstract Much is written on best practices of evidence based birthing statistics and outcomes. They are very important public health issues, due to the still high mortality rates for both mother and child in different parts of the world. Never the less, the efficacy of different childbearing practices will not be compared in this short paper. The goal is to look at the very real belief systems of very real people who are giving birth and cross our paths as nurses every day. How does a nurse’s understanding of a patients culture help positive outcomes?
Changes in Family Dynamics at the Birth of a Child As they affect each of the family: Mother, Father, Sibling, And the Extended Family of the New Parents. The decision to become a parent is a related to the desire to love and nurture as it is important considerations about what the addition of a child means in terms of life changes for both mother and father, (Rossi 2002). During the course of pregnancy, the mother begins to form a psychological relationship with her unborn child; she is just beginning to develop a sense of her as a parent to this baby,(Slade,2002). Many women grow attached to the attention the unborn fetus acquires during the pregnancy. This attention is for the baby, but the mother feels the effect of the attention just as strongly.
Bottle fed babies are able to be fed by anyone, and not just their mother. This allows for help to be provided when needed for a busy mother. Newborns often need to bed fed every two to four hours, which can put a lot of pressure on a mother when she has other duties to tend to. Therefore, if someone is available to help feed the baby with a bottle then this can allow the mother to carry out other necessary tasks. If you plan to return to work after the baby is born, bottle feeding is an attractive option because anybody can help feed the baby.
*Please note* *I am a 8th grade student and this paper has not yet been graded* Neonatal Nurse What is a neonatal nurse? A neonatal nurse is, ”a branch of medicine concerned with the care, development, and diseases of newborn infants” (Merriam). Many people may think that a neonatal nurse just cleans up a baby after birth, but they need to have a well-rounded education, be able to handle many duties, and also have to recognize the high number of advantages in their career. A neonatal nurse has a variety of obligations, from helping mothers take care of the baby, to helping premature babies be able to breathe on their own. Predicted by the United States Department of Labor, employment for all registered nurses will grow faster than the average through 2014!
aThe career that I have chosen is to be a pediatric nurse. In order to be a pediatrician, you have to know how to be very patient with children. The child or children ages usually ranges from newborn infants until they become a certain age in their teenage years. I already know that some pediatrician are usually recommended by the parents of some children because whomever that pediatrician may be, probably have been known throughout the family. A child’s health care is the important concern of a pediatrician.
All women need a baby plan when they are expecting a baby. Most first time mothers will have plenty of worries or questions about their pregnancy and their baby. Being pregnant and getting ready to bring a baby into this world is very hard and it has a lot of responsibilities that come with it. Women who go by their baby plan are more likely to be less stressful because they are more organized. Even though it is not completely necessary to have a baby plan, pregnant women still have to know how to eat and exercise right, especially if they want a healthy pregnancy with a healthy newborn baby.
Ashley Hanshaw Psych 205 Strayer October 21, 2008 High Quality Child Care Most new mothers have deep concerns that returning to work shortly after giving birth and leaving their baby in a child care facility every day could have a detrimental effect on the baby’s ability to recognize its mother. They have a tendency to believe that frequent contact with their baby is necessary in order for a mother-child bond to form, develop, and be maintained. Consequently, they wonder if child care is always bad for babies and young children. The level of interaction between babies brought to a child care facility and their mothers is no different than the level of interaction between babies who were cared for at home by their mothers. For example, the article “Results of NICHD Study of Early Child Care Reported at Society for Research in Child Development Meeting” by Robin Peth, stated that “quality child care in the early years, meaning care with a high degree of positive interaction between caregivers and children, can also lead to better mother-child interaction” (par 1).
