In the future, they must learn to proactively address critical needs. As the damages of Katrina unfolded, vital issues such as preservation of water supply and food safety were overlooked. This resulted in pollution of the water and even greater health and sanitation issues. Shelters were over-crowded and volunteers even became an issue. All of these flaws in their practices serve as input to their lessons learned and how to better plan for these types of natural disasters.
Together We Stand Letter Megan Jutras Hum/111 December 11, 2011 Kelly Hoban Together We Stand Letter To whom it may concern, I am writing this letter today because I want to bring up the issue that is going on in town. The problem is that the community has come down with some inexplicable illnesses that we cannot explain. We believe that it has something to do with the gas company’s practices while the development, planning, or the building of the community was taking place. So the community thought that it would be a great idea to spread the word around about what is actually going on and how we can fix the problem. Some of the strategies that the community has thought of were to pass around a survey asking people how many were affected
The changing economy and the social strain are very significant problems of the modern world. People are starting to lose faith in governments every day and the examples of this are conflicts that take place all over the world. The government of the United States has proven to back up people and support their rights in any way possible. Voting was not an issue in the past decade, as people have gained their equal rights of voicing an opinion, in regards to the government they want to see controlling matters of the country. Even though it might seems as a small problem, comparing to all other troubles that the nation has experienced, nonetheless it must be addressed in a timely matter because any delay in making the decision will make the issue even more severe.
Each of these compounds is known to be poisonous, cancerous, or cause birth defects. The EPA fears that the drinking water will compromised due to runoff of the surface water discharge. Additionally, contamination of underground sources of drinking water and inadequate treatment of the waste water are possible. The threat of contaminated water supplies can cause a fearful population, largely due to the propaganda spread by anti-fracking initiatives. Although there are potential economical disadvantages to fracking, there are also enormous positives.
Pollution in seasonal wetlands Wetlands are considered habitats that help trap and reduce pollutants that come from all types of sources, such as oils from cars, chemicals from drainage runoff, sprinklers that have fertilizer runoff from nearby grass located around buildings, agriculture runoff, untreated sewage from pets and human waste, and in flow of domestic and industrial wastes. Other harmful chemicals that are human related are antibiotics from animal husbandry, pesticides that act as endocrine disrupters. (Ramsar 2008) These pollution sources all contribute to the negative health of wetlands all over California. Roseville wetlands are being inundated with water pollution from many of these human related sources around them. Wetlands can only handle so much of these pollutants, and with the major habitat loss that has completely changed the dynamics of these once seasonal wetlands, can only limit the ability for these wetlands to filter as much of the pollution as possible.
There are many areas, which affect the health equity of Mrs Smith, with support it leads to better health. Social support – Mrs Smith and her partner Mike need to engage and receive social support from other family members and the community (nursing, healthcare, social worker) Stress – both Mrs Smith and Mike will feel high anxiety and stress and may have a lack of control over living and work circumstances. This may lead to more mental and physical health. Work – Mike is caring for Mrs Smith and currently refusing home services, his employment opportunities may suffer as a consequence. As health carers we need to ensure Mike and Mrs Smith are educated in understanding the importance and the health care support that is available.
There are areas that require improvement such as in air quality; the STD incidence rate; high teen pregnancy, rising crime rate, and increase in crimes of violence. There is also a dire need within the community for disaster preparedness education on resource distribution, planning, and how to access such services in the event of a large-scale disaster. Even with educational resources available and plans in place within the county, the community is still unprepared for what to do when faced with a natural or manmade disaster and there is lack of engagement on the part of the civilian population. There is also a need for greater planning and resources devoted to assisting at-risk populations such as the elderly, disabled, and mentally challenged in the event of a disaster. More education and resources are needed in the area of disease prevention and risk-prone behaviors for the county at large.

Age, race, and family history play a major role also in whether or not you will develop thiscondition, but another key component is what foods we take in that have a serious affect.Dr. Vivian Fonseca states that, “The reason why people of specific ethnicities are at greater risk of Type 2 Diabetes are complicated and not fully understood” (Everyday Health). This issue really touches home with me because so many family members and friends that I know have this condition. It’s really sad and hurtful to have to see someone you love and care about have to constantly poke their self with needles and have to take so many medications just to make sure they are on the right path to their sugar levels not going up to high. My solution for this Diabetes epidemic would be to go out to different communities around the United States, sort of like a tour, and bring awareness to these communities.
With the new DVD that shows sex and violence or computers that gives kids access to unauthorized sites, technology is something that many parents need to look out for. As technology continues to forge ahead concerns about its effects on the general population are raised. Whether it is microwave ovens causing cancer or cell phones causing accidents, people are always interested in researching, and often accusing, these new products. Such is this case with videogames. Ever since PongÒ swept the nation, scholars have been researching videogames effects on children.
