In this essay I will be talking about how children are affected by television. Although many parents these days do not want their children to watch television, there are a lot of educational shows available today. Many parents may not want their children to watch modern television, and I would have to tell those parents that there are some shows out there these days that are very educational and they are aimed towards the young. Watching the educational cartoons can be very helpful for a child’s mind. There can be positive results emotionally, physically, and psychologically.
Young children are the ones who are most on social media and they see so many advertisements it is unbelievable. Companies target children because they are too young to know the truth about what they are really eating. Children don’t care about how many calories or how much sugar s in a bowl of Lucky Charms cereal, for example. But, there is only one group that can make their children stop them from eating this, the parents. Parents have the power to not make their children eat junk food and to decrease the chances of their child ending up with a long term illness.

The script was supposed to be an opening joke because in the movie all the food that is supposed to be bad for you, turned out to be good for you in the future. The central claim of Steven Johnson’s article would be that watching TV makes you smarter.
So goes the sayings “the key to life is moderation”, “variety is the spice of life”. A great deal is known about children and television, because there have been thousands of studies on the subject. Researchers have studied how TV affects kids' sleep, weight, grades, behavior, and more. It’s worth looking at what the research says when deciding how to manage television in your family. We do know that time spent watching TV replaces time spent interacting with caregivers and other children.
For example, One can watch a one hour history program and be interested in what is being said where as most people would not make it to page five of a history book. Although watching Television may be more fun and entertaining, In Johnson’s article Why Games Are Good For You, he talks about how effective media have become in educating children but at the same time these methods of teaching are causing children to lack cognitive skills, causing a deficiency in concentration skills, the ability to pay attention, as
shows, vitiates the purity and innocence of young minds. On the internet, children under the age of 18 can enter adult websites; such as Xtube, Fakku, and Redtube. Sure they ask for the age when you first enter the site, but lying is always possible. Though many people argue that it’s up to the kids to decide what they want to watch the rated contents or not, but if there is no internet then the kids wouldn’t even be watching it in the first place. Maybe adult pornography sites don’t apply to every single kid, but how about the violent, gory, and explicit video games that elementary school children play?
There are millions of different types of movies, and hundreds of different targeted audiences, but all of these movies have one thing in common-to catch the eye of their specific audience. Movies such as comedies, documentaries and dramas can have a negative effect on children of today’s society. The big screen movie Ted is a perfect example of a comedy bearing negative influence on its viewers and consumers. A marketing strategy used a lovable cute kid’s toy and turned him into a cursing, sex loving, marijuana smoking stuffed animal. This strategy was able to attract children of all ages to the movie theater to watch a cute little toy bear become a grown man’s best friend that leads to all type of negative behaviors.
My name is Bernardo Ostalaza and today I will be speaking to you about the influence TV has on our society. The most at risk categories for TV influence are kids and elderly people. I’d like to start off with a small fact for you. The average American kid spends more time watching TV than they do at school. Kids likes to sit around and eat food while watching TV and also do their homework while doing the same thing.
This increased advertising exposes young consumers to several potentially harmful products and social stereotypes; such as, alcohol, tobacco, and sexually motivated content. The Effects of Advertising on American Youth Advertisers make billions of dollars every year by advertising their products by utilizing many different media outlets and networks. According to Committee on Communications (2006), “[c]hildren and adolescents view 40,000 ads per year on TV alone” (p.2564). These ads sometimes involve a professional athlete or celebrity advertising products that are of an adult or sexual nature. Children and adolescents see these icons and want to emulate what they see and hear, because the ideology effect they have on youth.
