Text messaging outshines all other means of communicating on teens' cell phones, with one third of them texting more than 100 times a day. (Whitney) One advantage of texting is the cost. Texting on a mobile phone is a lot cheaper than making a phone call. Another major advantage of texting is being able to review the information being sent. When sending a text message, the sender is able to look at and go over the entire message and make sure that the information is accurate before it is actually sent.
For example, if a student forgot to bring a calculator to class, they would have one right there on their phone. Students are very forgetful but always remember and treasure things like their cell phones. Most students don’t use the student planner or forget to bring it home, etc. but if assignments were typed into phones and reminded them they would actually do their homework. Furthermore, research on specific topics and websites like dictionary.com would be very useful for students using cell phones because they would have it right there with them at all times and wouldn’t need to go to a computer lab.

Santiago Dassum Suzanne Abad College Writing II. January 30, 2013 Compare and Contrast Calling or Texting The technology communication has advanced in this time, in the past we have two types of communication: the texting type that involve the post card or the letters and the telephone, people in that time prefer the letters because they feel more professional and elegant that in the present when the letters doesn’t exist anymore and with a message by cell phone they feel satisfied. By talking about the texting way of communication we will find advantages and disadvantages, an advantages: you can revise and send the correct words, also another one is that you can’t reject the message, and finally with an educated message you could say a lot of a person; and disadvantages: could have a huge misunderstanding, can’t have the same symptoms in calling which are anger, joy, human emotions and finally you will have a lack of personality. Mean while in calling we have also pros and cons, in pros: a good understanding, have a good personality and in cons: said whatever comes to your head, the receiver has the right to answer it or not. If we see in the UK, the BBC newspaper do a poll of what do people prefers, and the answer was the text message “It might seem obvious, but it's now official: more people are using their mobile phones to text rather than call.” (Kadri, BBC).
