Ortiz 1 15 March 2012 Images of my Literacy Journey As I grasp this journey of seeing myself as a writer, I take up again the role of a rhetor, this time writing about my own portrait as a writer. Keith Grant-Davie, author of “ Rhetorical Situations and Their Constituents,” states that “new rhetorical situations change us and can lead us to add new roles to our repertoire” (109). However, almost all forms of writing intimidate me. As simple as writing in a social net work to this challenging essay I am trying to put forth. Yes, writing intimidates me.
Good job! Now, I have some suggestions on how we can improve this paper, so let’s get started, shall we? Main Idea/Thesis: Let’s work on your thesis first, Ashley. I noticed that you were not able to present a clear subject and key points for discussion that are necessary for a good thesis statement. A thesis statement is important in any essay because it serves as the basis of your entire discussion.
However, On the other hand Sscarcity can have both a positive and negative outcomes. I have had many counts of scarcity, but there is one that I will never forget, my Senior Research Paper. In order to graduate, we must use the scarcity of time to complete a research paper. The class was told we had to choose a literary topic to do the research on. The Analysis of lLove in Twelfth Night is what I decided to my paper on.
My writing skills are something I will have to work hard on to improve. When I write anything it generally has to be a necessity. So when I do write, I generally compose a rough draft. I proof read it several times checking my grammar, spelling, and punctuation. I find it difficult to convey what I would like to say when writing.
The Ah-ha Moment That Made me Wanna’ Rhyme English 1101 Liberty University April 8, 2013 The Ah-ha Moment That Made me Wanna’ Rhyme I am taking a risk here. I know that academia prohibits that in most cases, but I am ready to talk (or write for that matter). Education, to me, is a journey that is full of corners that you can’t quite see behind without turning it. As a read through essays in my composition class at Liberty University, my mind expanded and caused me to think in an abstract manner—I began to think like others may think. It was hard at first to see the rationale in the points of others until I had that “a-ha!” moment and learned that I am learning from different points of view.
It is written in the present tense, which means the story we’re about to hear has taken place in the past. A lot of readers will wonder, “Why does the author even bother doing this?” Foreshadowing is one of the best elements to use, but also one of the most difficult to use well. It can make the reader want to keep reading and also set a solid tone for your story. We now know, if we’re reading cautiously, that something happened to the car, and that this story is about what happened. This is a paragraph that makes us want to keep
After all of that I still don't know if I have a full understanding, but I have my own view on the quote, as does everyone else, which is different from mine, and one another, that to me is, Philosophy. Although the novel was hard for me to understand, the symbolism that Bradbury used is what stuck out to me and made me think about the philosophy within the book, within my mind, and within Bradbury's mind. Bradbury’s use of symbolism throughout the book is moving and powerful and reinforces his ideas . Books are burned physically and “ideas are burned from the mind.” Bradbury warns us about what happens when we stop expressing our ideas, and we permit people to take away our books. Ideas
The first thing to remember is that structure to your essays is crucial, there are lots of topics to write on and trying to include them all can lead to confusion and unclear writing, a plan of the driection of your essay will help to clarify your thoughts and express your opinion more articulatley. Iago and Othello are the main characters for consideration on this topic. Iago's machivellian nature allows him to operate under the appearance section of this theme because he is unscrupulous and prepared to undertake any actions in order to achieve his evil goal of causing the downfall of Othello. Othello on the other hand seems to be the epitomy of reality, especially in act 1.3 when he addresses the senate and Brabantio to make his noble speech about why he should be able to love the 'Divine Desdemona' as Cassio refers to her. In terms of wider themes than characterisation, appearance and reality are evident in nearly all the scenes where Iago is or is being discussed.
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES In this paper, I am going to write about my strengths and weaknesses as a writer. Writing is a process of transforming ideas, thoughts, and even goals to paper and for the reader to be able to comprehend what is written. The actual transformation of my thoughts is and always has been one of my biggest obstacles. However, I have always done well in past English classes that require essay writing. Since my strengths are harder for me to write about I will start with my weaknesses.
In order for me to accomplish this goal I must read, write, and study heavily what I have learned from my lectures and classes. Another way is to study word synonyms and antonyms to gain a broad vocabulary, not for big words or being fancy, but for more precision of meaning. Words hold tremendous power and can be used to change the course of how individuals feel. Being able to speak and hold a conversation without . If everyone in the world, even if they didn’t agree on a subject, just accepted the fact we all have differences and kind of just lived with it instead
