Educational pursuits 1 My Educational Pursuits Erika Toombs ENG 121 Magdalena Sokolowski June 2, 2013 Educational pursuits 2 My Educational Pursuits Dedication, hard work, discipline, and time management are key parts to the pursuit of your education. Returning to school always has been something I knew I wanted to do but to obtain the courage to do it was something different. I knew that I always struggled with school and to continue on and go to college was nowhere in my current life goals. Having that degree could open so may doors in my life. Accepting that there would be obstacles and learning how to overcome them to be successful was a challenge all in itself.
National Honor Society By: Aleesta Clodfelter National Honor Society is having the characteristics of leadership, character, and service. I think that National Honor Society is the right thing for me because my parents have instilled in me a sense of responsibility and the care for others. This is such a formidable opportunity itself to be involved in due to the dedication of helping and caring for others, and being associated with multitudes of non- profit organizations. Leadership plays a huge role. I’ve always tried to show more of an independent role as a student, and help others who don’t quite understand the things that I do.
One goal I set is just to do the best job I can to take care of my kids no matter how hard it is for me. A second goal of mine was to just show up to school and do the work. I am smart and I figure if I just show up then the hard part is over. This is my second time I am going to school so this time around I want to be focus, show up, and do the work. I pick these main two goals because my kids are my life so they come first.
Ambition exists in all circumstances, but for many, ambition escalates into a world where illusions of success drive him or her to lead a life full of harming others. People might be forced to change their ways for better achievements in their lives. However, their deeds for ambition can have an effect on other people in an unpleasant way, but they must keep going on due to what they think is the best method to give them better benefits. As the poem “Prodigal” illustrates clearly, ambition has an impact both an individual and others that may bring crucial and radical consequences. (I switched opposite side for personal experience and text explanation) Through the poem, “Prodigal”, Bob Hicok reveals the impact of an individual’s ambition on
“If there is no struggle there is no progress,” these words spoken by Fredrick Douglas, reflect the essence of my families’ motivation to stay strong and always peruse a better life. This quote is especially significant to me because it reflects my drive and passion to achieve my own dreams in life. My parents played a major role in inspiring me to help other people, and to work hard to achieve my goals; they thought me by example. I realized that I have been blessed to have the parents that I do. I deeply value what they have thought me: the strength, integrity, and compassion for others.
I would like to show my family that education is very important, because it doesn't only affect you but everyone that is surrounded by you. I would like to set an example for my little sister, and younger cousins, that anything is possible, and that your education sets a path for your future that if you have a bright future you can have a beautiful life. I would also like God to be proud of me as well. Bishop Noll Institute offers a challenging academic environment, I clearly see it in the upperclassmen’s attitudes and the standards that they set for me as a freshman this year. The more I know the better opportunities will come my way in the future.
Without the goal of going to college I would not be here today. Also, I would not be teaching my children not to give up on their dreams. By believing that the long-term results and the value of completing my degree in higher education to be that if it is a dream or a goal of yours that you are never too old to achieve them. Also, if you are returning to school later in life you are setting an example for your children so they can see that you never give up on your goals and dreams. My personal plan for my academic future is to push myself to do better in school and achieve the goal that I set for myself of a 4.0 GPA.
Initially, my reasons for going back to school was to set an example to my younger siblings that education is a lifelong process and it’s never too late to pursue your dreams of wanting more out of life. I wanted them to know that it’s possible if you can put your mind and energy into it. Somehow I also felt that getting a degree would give me sense of
There is probably no greater situation than me not seeing my kids often. I try to stay positive as best I can at all time’s. I am striving to further my education and follow my set goals I have for myself and my children. One day I will be able to have my children back and be able to be 100% in their lives. With my family’s help and patience I will succeed in doing so.
