Other under forgettable moments are when the son tells his father of being taunted by his playmates, Phil’s childlike terror at his mother’s heart attack, Kathy’s reaction when Phil reveals the “angle” for his magazine series, Phil’s helpless rage at the “restricted” resort hotel, the scene with Anne and the unconscious bigot in the cocktail bar, Dave’s conversation with Kathy about her passive disapproval of “nice” anti-Semites. In the beginning of the movie we, the viewers, are positioned to accept the “father”, the central character, as kind and generous. The movie starts off with Phillip Greenwood talking to his son at a park, just like any ordinary father. Philip is a reporter that was offered a job in New York to publish a series on anti-Semitism for a
Jimmy V did not win this award because of his tremendous success as a college as a college basketball coach including winning the 1983 national championship, he won it for his amazing courage to fight and one day beat cancer even if he was not alive to see it. Jimmy was diagnosed with bone cancer in 1992 and was given a scarce amount of time to live. On March 3rd of 1993 as Jimmy’s hour glass of life was wasting down to its final grains, powerful and inspiring words vaulted from Jimmy’s mouth that could make the strongest of storms weak in the knees. Jimmy spread a message of love that night that continues to carry on today through the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research. I will be critiquing Jimmy’s courageous speech in the following paragraphs.
Although we liked that you did this, your actions caused a riot in Rue’s district and we had not other choice but to put down a couple of rioters. In the future remember the Capitol is always watching and listening. All in all, I think you did a marvelous job at winning The Hunger Games. You had some hard times, but you pulled through it all. Now you get to live the good life with you and your family.
Man and boy stood cheering by, And home we brought you shoulder-high” (Housman). This sufficiently explains how the boy in that poem was a local hero that was loved by his fans. This is also seen in “Ex-Basketball Player” whenever it said, “bucketed three hundred ninety points/a county record still!” (Updike) That must have been a might feat to accomplish. Both of the poems have a eulogy feeling to them. Of course, A.E Housman’s poem “To an Athlete Dying Young” has a cold, tomblike tone to it, because it is about a death of a young man.
Murderball Response Paper Murderball is a sport also called wheelchair rugby. It is a fast paced, full contact wheelchair sport played by individuals that are paraplegic. Murderball, is a documentary explaining the intense rugby game with its disabled players in wheelchairs. After watching Murderball, it opened my eyes to the sport and helped me gain a new understanding for paraplegics. For instance, it cleared up the stereotypes people had about disabled people in wheelchairs playing sports.
This book was a great book based on the sport football. I would tell other people to read it if they like sports or if they like flashbacks or if they like sad endings and what the people talk about at the funeral. I don’t normally like to read books but this one was really good. I would tell people who like the game football and how people went through school or if you have been injured and you were a good player at any sport because it tells you what he did when he got hurt how he dropped out and how he dealt with it hurting his life. There are some bad reasons about this book to its not perfect I would say.

Having lost my brother at a young age, my best friend is like my surrogate brother, and kind of my taller, less attractive clone. We argue all the time about everything, even things we agree on. Our rivalry actually helps my grades; we even have a standing bet on who can get a higher test grade in Anatomy. In addition competing with him artistically has reminded me of how much I truly enjoy expressing myself creatively and has lead me to heavily consider a career in the
This is discovered when the patriarch, Julian Hayden, says to his son Wesley “Ever since the war…Ever since Frank came home in a uniform and you stayed home, you’ve been jealous” (118). This favoritism shows what little respect Julian holds for his younger son that stems from Franks dominance between the Hayden siblings. Wes is constantly put down because of his brother’s achievements; these situations can either make or break Wesley. In all families, there is a member who thrives on ‘power trips’, and in this specific situation, it was Julian, “He wanted, he needed, power…he was a dominating man who drew sustenance and strength from controlling others” (20). Julian acquires his power through putting others down, especially Wes; this causes Wesley to have a lot of animosity towards his father.
