They need to feel their job will exist as long as they want to work for the company. Employees should look forward coming to work. Not show up because just they have to. They also, need to think and act like owners. When the employees understand how the complete organization operates and relies on each and every department, they will be more willing to communicate and help other departments.
My interest in this lies in the fact that I myself will be looking leadership positions in my career after graduation and probably will perform team leader role. In order to succeed in this role, it is important to understand how team leader role is different from a traditional leader role, and how to successfully lead employee teams. After completing this report I expect to have a better understanding of a team leader role, and how an individual should perform in order to succeed in this role. II. Summary of Findings More and more organizations are using work teams today, and, therefore, role of the leader guiding employee teams become very important.
1. What opportunities are there for advancing the ideas of self-management in BladeTech? a. Who reports to whom: Replace the top-heavy management hierarchical model with a flat organization without human bosses. This would mean employees would not have titles and instead of reporting to a boss, they would report to each other by means of open communication regarding the commitments that each of them makes regarding their work.
With that being said it becomes important to set values that everyone will work by. This will help when new employees are added to the team and will also help ensure that the behaviors within the organization are acceptable and beneficial to the overall outcome of the business. The culture should be determined right from the start so the right employees are hired. It becomes important to make sure there is a way of identifying the people that truly allow the company to be successful and not just hire the superstar, not everyone will fit in to all of the different type of organizational cultures. Determining which type of culture to work in will help tremendously when trying to find an ideal business to work for.
Those managers will have their own team that they will lead and guide in order to achieve company goals. Those managers direct what work needs to be done in order to continue business. This just shows that just at the management level there are many different things that they are responsible for. They use the team their apart of in order to either gain information collect data and or make decisions based on. (Meyer (2010)).
1. Question: A question in response to this issue is what type of approach do you think they can take to change their perceptions? In response to this do you think a third party mediator or business coach would be beneficial to identifying needed behaviour changes for their firm? Their change in perception can begin by accepting the need to hire new expertise, spend time training them to accomplish the company’s goals, and add them as shareholders to the business for continuous growth and to keep marketing Pay Zone as a company with various skill levels. I don’t think there is a need for 3rd party mediators or coaches.
My study will help develop my managerial skills as well as offer alternative training ideas for newly developing managers within my organization. Supervisor-subordinate communication is an important predictor in employee work performance. It is imperative for a supervisor to communicate when attempting to improve employee work performance, trust and morale. Without a solid communication strategy, the supervisor-subordinate relationship will disintegrate and employee performance and productivity will be compromised. According to Miles “Positive relationship communication focuses on supervisors seeking suggestions from subordinates, being interested in them as people, relating with them in a casual manner, and allowing them to contribute input on important decisions.” (Miles, Patrick & King, 1996, p. ) In order to apply this philosophy in real life, I determined how employees in my organization perceive supervisor communication.
The motivators are typically related to intrinsic factors meaning work motivation coming from within a human being. These include: a sense of achievement, recognition, responsibility and opportunity for personal growth and advancement. The two-factor theory suggests that the intrinsic rewards will more likely motivate individuals rather than the possibility of extrinsic rewards, meaning the hygiene factors, such as salary enhancement, security or improved working conditions. From the beginning a thorough induction process “Welcome to the World of ECCO” is presented to new employees so they can learn everything about the company and the importance of their role, which encourages intrinsic factors such as recognition and personal involvement in their new workplace. As a manager not only would I like to be accountable for the acquisition and retention of employees that are directly under my supervision but parts of the metrics also focuses on that as well. By being able to have direct contact throughout the entire process studies have shown that the investment toward human capital has had the greatest gain. By being able to capitalize and be the go to person in setting the training and required job specifications or traits that can create a great assets to you to better complete your department goals would also help establish useful data and experience for future employees. 3.) In general, what do you think are the advantages and limitations of such metrics?
Objectives usually can be accomplished in a day or even less time. With this vision, a leader must have the traits talked about above to have an opportunity to succeed. In the workplace, leaders must be confident in themselves and in others who they are working with. If a leader doesn’t have confidence and belief in themself, nobody else will. Having confidence in yourself makes others believe in you and your vision.
